I don't usually start a random comments and viewpoints thread on the DID forum, because most of us are dedicated viewers and are usually prompt in discussing matters. But today's episode kind of motivated me to go against my instinct and write a few words of constructive criticism for our very talented creative team of the show.
1. Since the show was dedicated to the dancing stars of the Hindi cinema, or Bollywood, I couldn't digest the fact that the Khans were chosen for this honor. There was absolutely no need for them to showcase the three Khans. They were never a dancing star, and neither did they ever portray exceptional dancing skills. I might give SRK the credit for Kaal Dhamaal and Dard-E-Disco, or Aamir for Dum Duma Dum, but Salman Khan is nowhere close to the other two, who themselves weren't that great of a dancing star. The slot was totally wasted.
2. If the Khans had to be clumped under one dance routine, it would have been better if they would have clustered the three reigning queens of the 80s-90s Bollywood - Sridevi, Madhuri, and Juhi. The three were a neck-to-neck competition for each other in the 90s, whether it was comedy, tragedy, or dancing. Either of the slots could have been used for someone else.
3. Anil Kapoor's slot was totally wasted. Since when did he get recognized for his dancing?! Many choreographers where heard complaining that Anil was the hardest to work with when it came to teaching stars to dance for a movie. If they had to use Anil Kapoor, I believe Akshay Kumar was a better choice, with his fedora hat, tight blue jeans, waistcoat, and the best of all, white running shoes. The man had some really cheesy dance moves back then. They could have easily used this slot for showcasing Hema, Vyjayantimala, Meenakshi, Jayaprada, or even the lesser known, yet famous Bollywood vamps - Helen, Bindu, Padma Khanna, Jayashree T, and Aruna Irani.
4. Piyali's elimination was totally messed up! I was against her entering the show in the first place. She came in as a very mediocre, average dancer. But my word! She was totally refined in the whole process of winning the winner's hat. She was beautifully carved as a dancer. On the other hand, I am still shocked how that good-for-nothing Vaibhav is still in the show. I am sick and tired of seeing his clumsy, unappealing steps and dance. Don't get mad at me, but the dude acts and speaks very ghaati-ly. Add Pradeep in the list too. He's another pain to watch.
5. They should start inviting dancing stars like Rekha, Madhuri, Hema, Jeetu ji, etc on the show now. The show gets really bland with the same type of cheesy humor and comments from the mentors.
6. Finally, Remo needs to grow up. I cannot believe how biased he can be towards his own contestants. The man has a lot of maturing up to do.
Just a few points on my side. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone. Thank you.
