Chapter 3

Viren was in his car driving back to Shimla he remembered how last night after he had explained to mom and Priya what had happened how they had tried to convince him he wasn't at fault but it was to no avail. So they had both finally kept quiet and just stayed with him and just like their words didn't judge him their silence offered him their support and he had eventually fallen asleep. The next day Priya had been called into work coz of a crisis so she couldn't come to Khushi's audition but had told him before leaving that any sister would do exactly what Nivi was doing. Whatever is happening has been set in motion by your parents and not u and she understands that and if she doesn't blame u 4 your family's actions why are u blaming yourself? He tried to interrupt her but she lifted her hand and said it doesn't matter how it happened but the moment Sid put that ring on dd finger their problems where no longer just btw them or their family but now a 3^rd innocent party was involved and that person was her own sister, do u really think she can do anything besides what she is doing now. The way u have spoken about her makes me think u regard her as a very strong individual who can do anything so what makes u think that she won't have been able to distance herself from Sid if u won't around. Yes u might have helped her but the ultimate decision on everything has been hers and if u where not around I fully believe things would have happened exactly like this. She took his hand than and said she needs a friend right now, some1 who knows everything and can understand her pain if u allow your guilt to overwhelm u how will u be this person for her. But more than that if u can't be that person I really don't think u should be going near her, go back to her only if u can be her support and strength and not her weakness. She had seen the understanding finally dawn on him and knew she had gotten through to him and he had told her he promised her that he would be that person for Nivi for as long as she needed him. She had kissed him on the forehead than and told him best of luck bhai and with a heavy heart she walked away from him knowing that the only reason she let him go was coz he won't have been able to deal with the thought that he had hurt Nivi.

after a while he started to remember with a smile how great Khushi's audition had been. He knew from the reaction of the judges to her individual dance piece she had passed and by tomorrow hopefully they would find out if she had passed the classes as well. He had wanted to be near her whilst she was in her classes but she had forced him to leave by telling him that since she won't be able to even see him the entire time and she was already comfortable in the classes there was no need for him to stay until the end and he had finally left reluctantly. He looked over at the passages seat than and saw the Prasad that mom had given for Nivi she had gotten up early in the morning and had gone to the temple and prayed for both Khushi and Nivi. his family thought that he didn't believe in god but the truth was that he had never felt the need to believe in god coz his god had always been her his belief, trust and faith was only for her and since he had nothing to give to god he didn't pray.

As he neared home he started worrying about Nivi and hoped she was ok and managing everything he had been so deep in thought that he had nearly missed dd across the road but luckily when he had been turning his car he had seen her. He had immediately stopped the car and called out to her but she didn't hear him she was dressed in her wedding outfit and for a moment he thought that Sid had called of the wedding. But he knew that Nivi would never allow that to happen and no1 had phoned him so whilst he went after her he calmed himself down and to be careful of what he said. Once he reached her he grabbed her arm and said dd and almost as if she didn't know who he was she took his hands of her and continued walking. He had never seen her like this there was a blankness and a lifelessness to her eyes that he would never have associated with her and he feared the worst. She continued walking and he said dd what's wrong, where are u going it's nearly time for your wedding Sid and every1 must be waiting 4 u lets go but still she didn't say anything and continued walking. He didn't know what to do after this so simply followed her, they had been walking in total silence until they reached a bench on the roadside and she had sat down out of sheer tiredness. They sat in total silence for a long time until she said I heard your conversation with Nivi yesterday when u where in her room. At 1^st he had wanted to deny it but he knew that she won't believe it and so he said if u heard everything than u know that Nivi wants this wedding to happen. She said with such pain and sadness but how can I forget that they are in love with each another and he made her face him and said if u heard that they where in love with each another than u also know she doesn't feel like there is a future for her and him. She wants u both to be happy with each another and she knows that u can make each another happy if u 2 give each another a chance and move forward in life. If u are worried that any1 will judge u don't ever have to worry about that neither me nor Nivi will ever bring it up or mention it to any1 and u can forget about it. But more than that if u are worried that Nivi will have ill feelings towards u then u don't ever have to worry her happiness is in your happiness and nothing else matters to her. But this is ultimately your decision now u know the truth and u can make a decision for your future knowing how your sister feels, she loves u the most she choose u above every1 else. She will be the most hurt if u don't go through with this wedding and will never forgive herself that she was the 1 to hurt u, the thought that she took away your happiness will never allow her to live in peace. She looked at him for a long time and finally turned her face away from him and he knew that she needed to be alone to make this decision so he left her alone. He stood far from her but near enough for her to see where he was and after a while she came to him and sat they should go home she didn't tell him her decision and he didn't ask. And it was only once at the Sood gate when she had told him to stop at his house did he know her decision.

They went inside the house and every1 was shocked to see them together and dadima immediately said what are u doing here dd has something happened? DD was just about to speak when she saw Sid coming down the stairs and stopped she looked at him for a minute with such pain and hurt and he was about to ask her what was wrong when she turned her face away from him and looked at dadima and said that she couldn't marry Sid and was about to leave when dadima said what, how can u do this dd knowing that this was ds wish. DD looked at Viren for a second and said she was sorry but she changed her mind and couldn't go through with it and again turned to leave. Dadima said she would never forgive her for this and if anything happened to ds it would all be her fault Viren couldn't take it anymore and said that dd wasn't at fault at all that it was his parents who where at fault. Vandana asked him what he was saying and he looked at his mother than and said that she had lied to every1 that dd was the person who ds had wanted Sid to marry it was Nivi. Just at that moment Nivi and HL had come into the house they had been looking for dd from the time they got to know that she was missing and yash had seen dd with Viren going into his house and had told them. And so they along with every1 else was extremely shocked at what they heard. Nivi and Viren looked at each another and Nivi at 1^st was very shocked that he revealed the truth to every1 and she was hurt by his betrayal and than she got angry at him thinking he had ruined dd' wedding. HL than said u are lying why would your mother make up such a big lie and Viren said I am not lying I heard her tell dad the truth of what she had done last night to my dad. DD started walking away again and she had almost tripped near Nivi but Nivi caught her and said di and thhey looked ate ach another until hl pushed Nivi's hands away from dd she looked at all the Sood's with absolute hatred and took dd and left. Nivi walked behind them and tried to speak to dd but hl just screamed at her and told her not to come near them ever again that she was always a curse and always would be a curse for her daughter. Dadima couldn't believe what cc had done and immediately started berating her and even though Viren knew he should stay he couldn't handle them at the moment and went after Nivi. Once outside he called out to her and she stopped walking and turned to look at him and went to him and slapped him across the face. Afterwards he didn't move or say anything as she told him I can't believe u would do this to me, u just like the rest of your family but even worse u knew everything and still u did this to me. Even though your family has taken everything from me and my family the last ounce of trust that I was capable of giving I gave it to u and u repay my trust like this. What was the meaning of coming to me if u where just going to do what u wanted to do. he tried to speak but she said I will never ever forgive u for this Viren Sood never ever and walked away from him.

Viren stood watching her leave him he didn't feel bad coz he knew she didn't mean what she said she was very angry and anyway at least she vented her anger with him otherwise he knew she would keep everything in. He went back in the house than, every1 had left except Sid and when they saw each another they just looked at each another and than Viren lowered his head and was about to go to his room when Sid said his name. Viren stopped but didn't look at him and Sid said thank u, if it wasn't for u I would have made the biggest mistake of my life but more than that my life would have been over coz I would have lost my life, Nivi. Viren was gutted when he heard what Sid said and he had to close his eyes to compose himself before looking at him. After a while he finally looked at him and said that sorry I didn't do anything, I didn't tell dd the truth she happened to overhear me telling Nivi the truth and walked away from him.

When Nivi had reached home dd had been walking up the stairs and she had called out to her but before she could say anymore HL came to her and told her to shut up I told u never to come near my daughter. DD had stopped midway she had seen Nivi slap Viren and somewhere that had registered in her dazed brain and so she said that he didn't tell me anything I heard u 2 speak last night and she continued up the stairs. Nivi didn't know what to say and moved to go to her but HL moved in front of her and said stay away from her if u know what's good for u, if I didn't need to go to dd I would tell u what I really think about u. She looked at dadima angrily and said I always knew your darling granddaughter would ruin my daughters life and now every1 else knows it as well and left.

When DD walked into her house and saw all the decoration and the place where she and Sid would have gotten married she just looked at it for a while and than she went to her room. She went and slept on her bed she didn't bring the pillow closer to her but just lay there and it was almost as if she wasn't there anymore. She felt empty like she had no life force in her and had been like this from the moment she had heard nivren conversation she hadn't cried, hadn't screamed she was just empty inside.she hadn't slept the entire night and when her mom had dressed her she had allowed it coz she felt like she wasn't even there anymore. She heard her mom and dad come in the room they both tried to get her to talk to them but she was just quiet. It was her quietness that scared them she had always been so lively, so full of life that seeing her like this was unnatural and they where terrified what if she did something to herself. After a while they couldn't take it anymore and with tears in their eyes they left her. Their front door was open and Nivi was standing outside and she said please let me see her and HL anger knew no bounds and she started taking down all the decorations she could get in her hands and throw it at Nivi's feet and slammed the door on her face. Nivi had tears running down her face by that time and she picked up the decorations and held it close to her chest and said that she wanted all the happiness for dd she never wanted to harm her but no1 heard her. She stayed outside their door for many hours and even when dadima and Yash told her to come down she refused and said that she needed to be near dd that she would need her she knew it. But she had to finally go down after she saw dadima struggling to come up the stairs and dadi took her to her room. She had gotten yash to leave some food for Nivi in her room but when she tied to feed her she refused and dadi told her that u never meant for this to happen u where ready to sacrifice everything for dd. Don't blame yourself HL is just angry when she calms down she will recognize this but still she refused Nivi told her she wasn't hungry and that she should get some rest and she would eat just now she promised and dadima finally reluctantly agreed and went to her room.

It was after midnight and Viren had stayed in his room from the time that he came, everything was very quiet and still in the house and totally uncomfortable. Nandu had told him what had happened how dadima had told CC that she would never forgive her for what she had done and would never trust or see her in the same light again. He had wanted to go to his mom than and there but knew she won't see any1 especially him and so had phoned Shraddha ma and had told her what had happened. She had calmed him down and told him not to worry and he should just be there for his mom and everything was going to work out in the end and he should just have patience. He finally couldn't take being in his room anymore he felt totally suffocated there and went downstairs he went to his mom's room 1^st but it was closed and after a few minutes of just staring at the door he turned and went outside to get some fresh air. He saw his car and remembered that he had brought some more clothes from home since he knew that he would be staying here longer than expected and so went to get it and than he saw the Prasad. He took it out and than looked at Nivi's house he knew that he should let everything cool down before he saw her again but somehow couldn't prevent himself from not going to her.

Her room was in darkness when he entered it and he saw that she was sitting on the floor with her head was on her knees and it was only when he had sat next to her that she looked up. Tears where falling on her face and he touched her face and gently wiped them away and said Nivi I thought we had gotten over this crying nonsense of yours. She looked at him for a few second and than couldn't help herself and hugged him and started crying more he held her and gently touched her hair and kept on repeating that everything would be ok. Even after she had stopped crying she still stayed in his arms she felt safe there like nothing bad could happen to her there and just for a little while longer had she wanted to feel like that. She finally got out of his arms and she looked at his cheek the 1 she had slapped and gently touched it and when she realized what she was doing she immediately removed her hand. She said sorry for and he touched her lips and said since the time we met u have never said thank u graciously to me so how can u tell me sorry before doing this. She looked at him and just for a second there was an almost smile on her face and he smiled at that than her eyes clouded as she remembered everything and she looked away from him. He asked her than how was dd and she shrugged her shoulders and said that I don't know chacijie never let me see her with tears in her eyes she said I destroyed dd's happiness and she was right. He looked at her and asked how was she responsible she never stepped in the way of dd's happiness and Nivi said but I did, don't u see I did and wake up and said if I really wanted this wedding to go through it would have happened. I didn't try hard enough I should have done more I am a curse to her and Viren got up and went and touched her shoulders and said look at me Nivi. when she finally looked at him he said even though this wedding didn't happen u have done everything humanly possible to have made it happen u did the wedding preparations wholeheartedly even though your heart was breaking, u not only distanced yourself from Sid but u went against your basic nature and made it seem like u where in love with me. U tell me what more could u have done, what more was expected of u? She looked down than and he said putting your head down won't change the fact that u have done nothing wrong and it won't change the fact that u have done everything right. He took her hand and tugged her to sit on the floor again and continued and said today whether this marriage had gone through or not your life would have changed. If the wedding had gone through u would have had to move forward in life and handle only your sorrows and pain but now it hasn't and not only do u have to deal with your sorrow but help dd deal with hers as well. He took the plate that was on the night stand and said that to do that u need to have strength u can't afford to get weak now and broke a piece of roti and put some food on it and brought it to her lips. She looked at him for a while and finally she opened her mouth and he feed her he was just about to get more food for her when she held his hand and he looked up and she got some food as well and brought it to his lips as well. She said u must have not eaten anything as well right everything must have been tensed at your house as well he looked at her in amazement and wondered how it was possible that even with everything that was going on she had thought about him and with tears in his eyes this time he allowed he to feed him. Once they had finished eating Nivi went and lift the plate in the kitchen and got something for them to drink and once back she gave it to him and when he went back to sit on the floor he felt the prasad in his pocket and said I forgot to give this to u my mom sent some Prasad for u. Nivi looked at him shocked and he smiled and said not that 1 my other mom and Nivi said other mom and he nodded and said my mom and 2 sisters Priya and khushi u would like them they are very nice and she smiled and said thank them for the parsad and eat some. She went and sat next to him and for a while she was silent and than finally said what do I do next Viren how do I help her and he said do what u do always be there for her and offer her your support. I know she will take time to get back to being herself but I know with u being with her she will. after a while Nivi felt absolutely drained and weak and found herself putting her head on his shoulder. She said than I hope u are right I am really worried about her I have never seen her like this and he said she just needs time to grieve and she will be fine. After a while Nivi didn't say anything and when he looked at her, her eyes where closed and so he put his arms around her and just stared at her for a while and than he lifted her in his arms and put her to bed. He was just removing his hand from her back when she rolled over and he couldn't remove it without waking her up and he went closer to her to try to remove it and for some reason he remembered Sid's words early on that day. He immediately removed his hands from her but in the process she moved and caught hold of his other hand and he was forced to go and sleep next to her. He tried not to look at her coz he knew that she belonged to some1 else but his treacherous heart didn't allow him to and he found himself looking at her. He didn't want to be enar her but found himself bringing her closer to him and he held her tightly wishing that morning would never come and he could freeze this moment for eternity.

*dead* you've left me speechless once again. Love, shock, anger passion, pain this chapter had it all. Just love the way you describe Nivren's emotions. Omg as I was reading I was like please don't end, please don't end, and right at the exciting point it ended. 😭
Sandia, plz plz update soon and try make it very long one. Sorry I know I'm being greedy, but what to do it's Nivren after all, and I'm just addicted to ur ff and to the way u write.
