Is Prachi the quintessential bahu?

The actor is being compared to Smriti Z Iraani given her rising popularity in 'Kasamh Se'

She's touted as the new 'Tulsi' of Indian television given her fast increasing popularity. The 17-year-old Prachi Desai (Bani) in 'Kasamh Se' (Zee) has created waves with her character as the simple and docile wife of Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor). "It is a little unrealistic for me to play the wife of an older man. But when I look back I feel I really didn't have to put in any extra effort. It came naturally to me."
Having had no formal training in acting Prachi says that she auditioned for Balaji in Pune just before her Std XII board exams. "Just out of curiosity I auditioned for the role and was quite surprised that I was selected." Because of 'Kasamh Se', Prachi could not appear for her exams. She says, "I didn't want to mess up by board exams. I will probably appear for them next year."
Working late nights and long hours has not dampened her spirits. "I did not expect television to be so gruelling. But when I see the results, I don't mind it at all. It's just that I have become very impatient due to the work pressure," she adds.
What does she feel about her being the new face of the Indian bahu? "I feel quite flattered when people compare me to Smriti Z Iraani. She is the Amitabh Bachchan of Indian television and I have to learn a lot from her. I am glad I am getting noticed," she signs off.
