(1) That's an apples and oranges comparison. Singing someone else's songs is very different from working with composers. Music is made by a team -- a team of lyricists, music composers, other technicians and the singers. This team delivers the final product. This cannot be compared to someone else singing their songs in concerts. If that was the case, why go listen to Lata Mangeshkar in concert? After all she didn't compose those songs but she rendered them beautifully.
(2) I tihnk Yash Raj films will do just fine even without SRK. SRK has a poster signed in Aditya Chopra's office. The poster is from DDLJ and it says "Thank You for making me the star that I am today". Stars are transient, productoin houses are institutions that last generations. Yash Raj films just made Fanaa without SRK and it did great. Tomorrow there will be other stars who will shine as brightly as SRK is shining today. This doesn't mean that SRK doesn't deserve credit for being a super star. Ofcourse he does. He worked hard and has talent. That's why he's the star he is. However, Yash Raj saw that talent, it harnessed it and became the medium that transformed him into a star.
(3) I'm sitting in Mallorca (a small island off the coast of Spain in the mediterranean sea). I'm just chilling out for a few days here. I was in Canada and Mexico just prior to this. Will be reaching India in a few days. As for US, no plans in the near future. I will be coming to the US next year in March on my way to the caribbean to see the Cricket World Cup. I plan to spend a month island hoping in the carib...so I have to work hard and save money for that trip (starting next week).
BTW, I have a question for you. I noticed that you have over 11K posts. I'm only in the 200's. How did you get that many? I don't think I've even sent that many emails in my entire life. You must be lightening fast on the keyboard.
WOW Rolm you're going to the world cup next year. I wish I could go. I'm sure you'll have fun. You seem to be a world traveller.
