Yet ANOTHER staggeringly beautiful episode! 👏👏
I had so many reactions during this episode that I will definitely try and catch it again to re-live them all. I LOLed, I screamed, I applauded, I melted into a huge puddle of mushy goo and I was even irritated at some points. You will have to read the rest of my take to find out what went where. 😉
Ok so the irritation came from Aarti right at the beginning of the episode. I thought she totally overreacted and behaved like a total brat. NOT that she doesn't have perfectly good reason to to some extent but I wish she would have more trust in her parents (am just going to call them her parents) than that! Anyway, first of all she wasn't even supposed to hear the conversation. It was supposed to never reach her ears that such a condition had been put forth and Shobha was expressing that quite clearly as well as her own indignation on the matter. She was even saying she would flatly refuse them but Aarti was blinded by rage at the very thought of leaving Ansh that she didn't bother to notice the protection of her parents and only saw the condition of Yash's family. To me she was a bit bratty to be honest and even she seemed to realise as she apologised for it later.
WHY was she shaking the sleeping child like that? And WHY didn't he wake up with all that shaking and violent affection? 😕 Anyway, for me today Aarti's initial scenes were a bit irritating though perfectly in character. It shows how immature she is in many ways, though she has been through so much and how much she needs a calming influence in her life who is not afraid to tell her what's what and SHUT her UP when need be. So basically I was annoyed but I liked it.
Yash was fabulous! He said in one short line what we spent over 10 pages discussing yesterday! 🤣 I guess that is the charm of his character. He keeps it short but EVER so sweet. He makes his family understand with just a few words why it would be impossible to separate Aarti from her child and why he would not want to marry her if she agreed to such a condition. I loved the contrasting expressions between Shobha, Gayatri and Pankaj (the dad). In one line of his speech, Shobha learns that he understands the depth of relationships, knows the meaning of a mother in the capacity of what he wants for his children and is also capable and willing to care for them himself. But he is not willing to just settle for adequate as he wants them to have the BEST possible life and upbringing. I am falling in love with Yash, for real.
I kind of like Pankaj in spite of myself. He seems like a man who says very little (possibly where Yash gets it from) but when he speaks everyone listens, even Yash. I guess Yash is most like him of his sons so he was proud of his speech today. It almost seemed like he wanted to say what Yash did (seeing as he had the perfect defensible argument at the ready for his wife) but also wanted Yash to say it himself. To me this showed that he would not interfere, would let the rishta fall apart at his wife's over demanding hands, IF he didn't see Yash fighting for it himself. He is proud to see Yash's concern for his girls and so steps in and convinces his wife, immediately pronouncing the final decision and telling her what is appropriate to expect from a bahu. He may be conservative but he seems extremely principled and a lot like what we have seen of Yash, actually though also being a product of his time and his lifestyle.
FINALLY we have a Yash flashback! 😃 I love how they played on the cliched bhabi-devar moment here. It showed how NORMAL Yash's life was before he lost his wife. He had an arranged marriage, after falling in love with a photo! The subtle difference between pre-Arpita and post-Arpita Yash was brilliantly done by GC. You can tell he was still quiet and shy back then but without this weight on his shoulders that we now see permeating his being. 😭 I loved his shy looks and smiles when he was looking at her picture and THEN!
I actually sat on my sofa next to my mother and APPLAUDED when they showed that photograph scene. It was simply one of the most beautifully conceptualised and executed scenes I have EVER seen! I love how Aarti finds Yash's picture under Ansh's pillow, where he writes to his dad, and without looking at it she runs to the drawer where she hides Prashant, probably indicative of the secret place in her heart where she hides his memories. At the same time we see Yash openly looking at the picture of his wife which he fell in love with years ago, wondering what effects turning over the picture facedown on his desk will have NOW.
MANSI IS BACK!!! 😃 I was so upset when she was missing and was hoping against hope that she wasn't a cameo. I love her to bits and I laughed out loud at her humour. I loved how mature the humour was without being too graphic or vulgar and finally made peace with the 10:30 timeslot. If we get more Mansi, I understand why they can't show it at prime time. 😉 She is just the kind of person that Aarti needs to lighten her up! I loved that she called Yash's picture hot. It just made my day. She is the perfect foil for Aarti, girly, carefree and shararti while Aarti seems like quite the stick in the mud next to her.
To me this was an episode of discovering Aarti's flaws, first with her tantrum in the beginning, then with her uptight attitude towards love and lusst 😆 and then with the way she gave into everything Ansh asked for, today it was jalebis on the way! And then he is shouting at her to go faster because they will be late?! I love how they introduced Yash in this scene as the calm, rule-following, slow driver. Though he smiled to himself when he saw Yash, it is clear that he will be the one to slow Aarti down, how much ever she may honk at him! And even when he doesn't manage that, it will make him happy to see her zooming about the place! 😆
