May be I went overboard with my comment and it may have sounded a little harsh towards the makers, but trust me it was not intended to.

Otherwise, everyone knows that Shiva is Trikaldarshi, he knows the past, the present and the future, he knows how Sati will kill herself to protect his honour, its in her destiny (as he himself said a few epis back "Viyog ki ghatna dobara dohrayi nahi jayegi"), then why would he stop Sati and constantly reject her advances?, its just to make her realize the true path.

On a side note I would also like to mention that I don't like the way Shiva is being portrayed in the show, showing him acting under the influence of his emotions esp. in 22nd-23rd Feb epis where he got so angry on Daksh and was about to kill him under a fit of rage, as was portrayed, but he is not human, he's a God, he does not act on impulse, the makers are showing these scenes just to get more TRPs and they are slowly turning this show into just another saas-bahu saga. They should refrain from doing so as it goes against the very concept of a god. Shiva never gets angry, he is always smiling and humble and sweet as was shown in the intial epis.

The only time Shiva gets angry is at the time of Doomsday or... Armageddon or... Judgement Day or... Praylay or... whatever you call it. And that too he is not angry on humans or the evil prevailing in the world due to which the world has to be destroyed as is usually depicted and believed, it is a misconception, actually he is angry on himself that although he loves the world and its inhabitants so much, he is obligated to destroy his creation as it is his duty or kartavya therefore he gets angry.

But just for argument sake, having read Shiva Purana in different flavors, the Shiv-Sati story is a doomed story, even Mahadev says it in the last episode that the body made of 5 elements born of a "manushya" - Daksha has its limitations. It will end tragically. Sati as per the puranas is unsuccessful in making Shiva a Samsarik.

Reborn to the king of hills Himava and apsara Mena, Parvati is more a divine being by birth. She gets Shiva involved with the samsara and hence the world gets the rasas Brahma talks about.

Its not about low vs high origin. Its mortal vs immortal birth. Sati burning herself serves 2 purposes-

1. It gets rid of the mortal body given by her father

2. In Daksha yagna no offering was made to Shiva, so Sati made tht offering by burning herself.

First of all this is the story of Shivji & Shakti, not only from Shiv Mahapuran but also from Devi purana along with other characters story given in various other puranas, the comen thing is all those events occured in that time period concerning Shivji & Sati.

Sati was never unsucessful in making him sansarik, after they got married & went to Kailash, Sati asked Shivji to make a place for her to live there. Shivji made a fantastic palace, where both of them lived together. He infact showed his Ardhnarishwar roop to her saying we both are one. This was shown in a show " Ma Shakti". They did spend time together before Daksh's yagya.

Sati before going to Daksh's yagya, when stopped by Shivji, appeared in 10 Mahavidyas form in 10 dishas, they were Mahakali, Tara, Bhuvaneshwari, Tripurasundari, Bagalamukhi, Tripurabhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Matangi & Kamala. Which are very powerful forms blessing their devotees with Bhoga as well as Moksha.

In the show shivji told sati you are Dakshini, our milan is not possible. One of the form of Goddess Mahakali is Dakhin Kalika, which stops Yama coming from Dakshin disha to protect her devotees. Shivji too appeared in Mahakaal form, at Ujjain one of the 12 Jyotirlinga is Dakhina mukhi. One of his form is Dakshinamurti too. Which shows how much he loved Sati.

Where ever 51 different parts of her body fell on Earth, various Shakti peethas came in existance. Shivji too came at those places to be with his Shakti. High energy field exists there, we can feel it. How does all these make Sati less Divine? Infact as Sati, Goddess Shakti has given a lot to us humans.
