Part Five

She awakened feeling a bit disoriented. She felt someone's arm over her waist. She turned slowly almost bumping him in the face. Her breathing relaxed as she realized it was Udayveer.

Suddenly she had the flash of something she might have done in the past.

She used to snuggle close to him and then he would demand or give her a good morning kiss every time she awakened in his arms.

She blushed thinking of this. She wondered if he would open his eyes and do that now. She could feel the blush creep up on her cheeks. He slowly opened his eyes. He got up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"Sorry Manyata you must be feeling strange since we haven't been sleeping in the same room recently," he stated.

She pulled on his arm. He looked at her startled.

"Kya hua Manyata?," he inquired.

"You won't ask today?," she inquired.

He looked at her puzzled.

She leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"Good morning Udayveer," she whispered in his ear.

He looked at her in surprise. She pulled back and retreated to go freshen up. He stared after her in shock. She had remembered something else?

Manyata emerged from the washroom to see Udayveer dressed for his morning workout. He was wearing a vest and track pants. She noticed a scar on his shoulder. She sat down beside him and touched the spot.

"Yeh kaise hogaya?," she inquired.

Udayveer stiffened. It was from the incident but he couldn't tell her what happened. Manyata was getting stronger but he did not want to pour water on her progress.

"Kuch nahin Manyata. I just bumped it once at a construction site for one of the hotels," he stated.

"You need to be more careful. You are in the hotel business? I am really lucky to have married such a talented man," she declared.

He pinched her cheek.

" I am gonna work out now. If you want you can watch television or oversee the staff in the kitchen," he stated.

She looked at his retreating figure in wonder. He was hiding the truth from her. She just hoped he would not get hurt again.

Udayveer worked his body to its capacity as he tried to keep the recent past out of his mind. How things had turned upside down with just one event, it was shocking even to him. He used to feel as if nothing could faze him but this one incident had reminded him how life could be fragile and short.

He thought he had lost her in that one instance when she had fallen into his arms. She had came in between him and a major injury.

Suddenly he turned to hear a clunking sound nearby. He turned to see Manyata trying to pick up a weight. He shook his head. He got up and stood behind her as she struggled with it.

" Come on Manyata you can do it!," he cheered.

She turned around and gave him a fierce look.

He smirked back at her.

She rolled her eyes and tried once more. She nearly fell over. He steadied her. She pushed him away as she dropped the weight on the floor.

He picked her up in his arms. She wiggled and told him to put her down. He dropped her on the bed. The staff may have seen them go past them but they kept mum. They weren't to comment on the Yuvraj and Rajkumari.

"Hello what was that for? I know you are hiding something from me and I will find it out. I want to go to India tomorrow!," she demanded.

He grabbed her by the arms.

"We will return to India in two days. Also whatever I am hiding is for your benefit!," he snapped back.

She grabbed his wrist.

"Just you wait and watch! I will find out the truth whether I get my memory back or not. Haan Nahin Toh!," she declared.

He looked at her stunned. He was dying to hear that line for days.

She pushed past him, he pulled her back to him.

She looked at him aghast. He whispered," I'll be waiting princess,"

At the breakfast table, there was tension between the two. She was steaming while he remained cool and collected. He had heard those beautiful words from her mouth after so long. He longed to pull her in for a long embrace. His princess was returning slowly but gradually to her true form.

She finished eating and spoke up.

" I can't wait until we return to India. I am sure we have others we can spend time with rather than each other. I think we have spent enough time together but separate from everyone else. Do I have a lot of friends back there?," she inquired.

"Actually Unnati and that Dr. Sonia are your best friends. The three of you work for charities and NGOs in Mumbai," he stated.

She looked at him with a smirk.

"Good so when we return I am going to spend more time with them. You will keep busy with your work and I with mine," she said before leaving the table.

He shook his head after her. He couldn't wait for her to remember more of the good things.
