Chapter 3
I ran out of the building, looking back behind me. A couple of people must have noticed and started running towards me. I quickly turned into a corner, trying to hiding, and watched the guys run straight- not noticing me. Then I found another street and started to run again.
I ran through the street. After a while, I realised that I was being followed. I tried to run faster, I knew who ever it was was catching up with me. Then suddenly I tripped over something, making me fall to the ground. The person had reached up to me and placed their hand on my shoulder.
Knowing that I should get up and keep running to be safe, I looked behind my shoulder instead. I was too curious to see who it could be.
"Hey, I thought you might needed some help," it was the guy who helped me escape. Without realising I smiled, and then he smiled along with me too. He held out a hand for me, and I took it. Holding onto him to stand up. I quickly dusted off all the dirt that had been on my clothes and then looked up to the guy.
"You OK?" He had a serious face on. I hadn't realised that I scraped my knee, and I must have been wincing. That was when I realised it really hurt, but I decided to not show the pain.
"Yes I'm fine thank you," I replied back to him.
"I don't think your OK, here let me take a look" with that he bent down examining my knee. The all of a sudden he picked me up into his arms.
"Put me down!! I can walk by myself" but he shook his head. So I started struggling in his arms "Put me down right now!" but this time he just ignored me and kept walking.
I just stared at him whilst he kept walking. Sometimes he would look at me and grin to himself, when those happened I would look away. In some ways he looked quite old. But he looked harmless. Maybe he wasn't 20, maybe he was 28. But I wonder how he became a ghunda, I mean he doesn't look like one for certain.
Soon, we had reached a building. He put me down so he could open the door. "Where are we?" I asked him, examining what looked like a reception. He just smiled and walked up to a lady behind the desk.
"Hello Chachi," He said. The lady stood up, she was wearing a light blue coloured sari, she looked like she was in her late 30's.
"Hello son, who do you have here?" She smiled looking at me. I couldn't help but smile back to her, she seemed so nice.
"This is Moni-" He started but I interupted him.
"I'm Manyata, its really nice to meet you...?" I asked her. He gave me a confused face, but I would explain to him later, I couldn't tell him here right now.
"Ahh Manyata dear, its very nice to meet you, guess I'll be seeing you around them," We both smiled, and he led me up to the elevator. As the doors closed, he pressed the number 11.
"So why didn't you tell her your real name," he asked.
"Because I didn't want her to know ok?"
"But why?" He was starting to get on my nerves.
"Look, I didn't want to OK? If you have a problem tell me right now," I told him boldly.
"Sorry,"
"Ha naye toh," I murmured. We were quiet after that. Up until we walked into the most beautiful apartment I've ever seen. "Wow, this place is amazing" I chanted.
"Yeah, its pretty amazing" He replied ruffling hair hair and grinning at himself again.
We walked into the lounge and I fell onto the sofa. Soon, he copied me and fell onto the sofa.
"How did they catch you?" He asked.
"I run away from home, and I was in the park when suddenly," I then just looked away ashamed. I couldn't tell him about what my father had done. Yes, he's in prison but everything felt so sudden.
"Oh..." he said. Then there was an awkward silence between us.
"What day is today?" I asked looking at him.
"It's Monday why?" he asked me confused.
"No its just I run away from home on Saturday. That means I was out for a whole day"
"Why did you run away from home Monia?" He asked me. I had dreaded this question, I knew it was going to come sooner or later.
**Flash Back**
Mum had once again came home late. Father got really angry with her because of that. I knew I shouldn't have but I've been suspecting that Mother's up to something. She's hardly in the house any more. We never go on outings, the last time we tried, Father got protective and wouldn't let us go anywhere alone.
I heard them fighting. I always heard them fighting, it was a pretty normal thing now, but I didn't know it would end up bloody. I thought it would just be a little row. Then there was a scream, and I knew that wasn't normal.
I ran down the stairs into the lounge room. Father had a gun in his hand staring at mother angrily. I knew it was too late and I couldn't stop it. I knew I could have saved her.
**Present**
Tears started to fall down my cheeks. He had noticed and pulled me closer to him, into a hug.
"Look, I'm sorry. If you want to talk about it then I'm here to listen to you," he told me calmly. I just stayed there and cried onto his shirt. He calmly stroke my hair to calm me down.
After I was done crying, I slowly backed away from his hug, and just looked into his eyes. He wiped away the tears that were left with his fingers softly.
"Don't worry, everything will be okay" he reassured me.
Soon, our eyes were locked together. His brown eyes looked like a chocolate ocean, waiting for me to swim in them. He came closer to me, cupping my cheeks. I closed my eyes, tilting my head a little to the side.
Ring. Ring, He quickly pulled away leaving me confused. After, talking to someone on the phone, he finally put it down. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure" he smiled looking into my eyes.
"What's your name?" I asked him, also looking into his eyes.
"My name is Aakash," He told me calmly. He sat down next to me and I put my head on his shoulder.
"Aakash," I whispered, gently closing my eyes.
So what do you guys think about Chapter 3? Did you suspect that it was Aakash, or would you rather have put Uday in his place? What do you think will happen next to Monia? Find out in Chapter 4...
