Pathjad Saawan took more time than I expected, or else would have written. Will try to give an update by friday, if not early next week. Have to think what all i should include in this one.

maine likhna shuru kiya tha kal, but could not complete . started writing now. there will be a convo involving arohi's mother, hope it doesnot come out offensive, wanted to give her point of view. i hate to keep you waiting but it will take few hours before updating though, so sorry guys 😒

Part 9

Arjun was still trying to find a suitable way to convey his whereabouts to Arohi. Since Prakash's house is in the same place it will be easy through his parents or should he ask Rehan to visit her institute. Either way it will be indirectly contacting Arohi. But her dad did not say his friends should not talk to her. He was debating.

Arohi after striking off another line went about her routine and did the same thing again. She went in the same route to check if she can by chance spot Arjun. She wont talk or anything , she will just see, it wont be against the challenge if she by chance comes in front of him she convinced herself.

Arohi's mom, Padmavati , meanwhile went for a evening walk with her friend. In the park they saw another lady who used to hang out with them, but now she isolated herself and went in a different direction seeing them. 'bechari Shantala, jab se uski ladki bhaag gayi shaadi ke mandap se, tab se humlogon ko avoid karti hai' her friend said. Padmavati did not have much to add when so much was going on in her own family. but her friend continued 'kal dekha maine uski beti ko, sultan bazaar mein, kapde lene aayi thi. saas thi shayad sath mein. yeh bhi burkha pehni huyi thi' 'burkha?' padmavati asked in a low voice. 'haan , ab unke ghar gayi toh unke jaise rehna padta hai na. Sabhi pehnte hai. Sab kuch malum hote huye bhi gayi, toh ab yeh sab karna padega' 'accha' 'woh ladki puch rahi thi ki aunty maa kaisi hai, main kya batao ki tune jo kiya uske vajah se woh dukhi hai? , maine bol diya ki theek hai, phir apne saas ke sath chali gayi' '...' 'ek baat bolu, apne mazhab mein hi shadi karo toh theek hai, nahi toh bada mushkil, alag ho jaata sab kuch, yeh ladki bhi pehle se jyada different lag rahi thi, pata nai aur aur kya kya badlaav kiya hoga usne, mujhe toh lagta hai ab woh puja paat bhi nahi karti. Aaj bhi yaad hai jab shantala ki pati aur bete ghar ghar puchne gaye the , ki unki beti aayi kya, kitna dhakka laga tha' ' kisiko bataya bhi nahi tha usne' 'wahi jyada dukh hai unko ki bata deti toh shayad maan jaate. lekin aise shaadi ke din bhaag gayi, itne rishtedaaron ke saamne izzat nikaal di apne maa baap ki' '...' 'iss baat ko 6 ' 7 mahine ho gaye, phir bhi maine jab shantala ko bataya ki uski ladke se baat ki maine, toh rone lagi. kaisi hai meri beti bolke. maa ka dil hai na' 'woh ladki khush lag rahi thi?' 'kyun nai rahegi? apne manpasand shaadi ki usne. Chehre par toh nikhaar tha, aise dukhi ya satayi huyi nai lag rahi thi, acche khase kapde khardke gayi apne liye. lekin phir bhi poora ka poor badal liye apne aap ko'. That disturbed Padmavati more. Arohi too will marry a muslim. Will she leave all that she practiced till now? She too will have to wear a burkha? She wont adorn her forehead with sindoor? Will she and Arohi's father have to yearn for her all their life?. Only hope was that today her son was coming, she has to talk to him and make him help her in brainwahsing Arohi. She cannot let what happened to Shantala happen to her. Arohi is still young, she will get over all this infatuation once she gets married.

The same evening Akash had arrived home. Seeing him gave Padmavati new strength. She knew arguing with Arohi's dad will not yield anything, since he would go by Arohi's wishes once the challenge is met. Luckily Arohi had gone to her classes. Aakash came to know everything. Arohi in love and that too this deeply that she is willing to go through any challenge put across. He liked his dad's idea of separating them to test their love, at the same time he was sympathetic towards his mother's concerns. 'but maa, agar woh usse itna pyaar karti hai toh hum rokenge toh bhi woh nahi manegi' 'pyaar?, kaha ka pyaar, yeh sab woh filme dekhkar seekha hai isne. ek baar shaadi karvadenge , sab theek ho jayega. please Aakash koi accha sa ladka dhoondo, jise dekhkar arohi yeh sab bhul jayegi'. Just then Arohi had come back.

She had come back disappointed not finding him anywhere in the route she took. May be she should go towards his office tomorrow, that is a better thing to do she thought. She saw her her brother was back. After a long week she finally smiled seeing her brother. May be he will understand and make her mom agree wholeheartedly. She knew Mr.Dwivedi wont put a barrier after one year but she was not sure about her mom. She hugged him stopping herself from crying, but he understood her state. He knew what being in love meant, his parents had been easy on him, since the girl belonged to their community was one reason and another reason was she was going to come to their house. But for Arohi it was different. He did not question her anything about arjun yet. But he could see that she was serious.

After dinner arohi went to her room and her dad to his. Padmavati again tried to coax Aakash into helping her. 'ma I can see she is serious, she wont agree to marry anyone else even if we find someone. Let the year pass and then we will see' 'maine kab kaha abhi karvani hai? ladka dhundne mein time lagega, aur 1 saal khatam hote hi karvadenge shaadi' 'and what about Arjun? aapko kya lagta hai woh chod dega, agar yeh itna serious hai toh woh bhi serious hoga na' 'woh sab theek hai, hume apni tayyari karni hai, mujhe nai lagta yeh shart wart yeh dono jeetenge' just then arohi had come out to get her books and overheard her mom say they wont win the challenge. her mom continued 'shart mein ek dusre se milna mana hai. ek saal bahut lamba hota hai, kabhi na kabhi toh ek dusre ke samne aayenge aur baat karenge tab shart toot jayega na'.

Arohi was shocked to hear her mother who was in a way right, what was she doing, she was going in search of him and if she found him she would have definitely spoken. Their parents would not know about it, but their conscience will prick them that they did not keep up with the rules, even if she ignores, Arjun will not. He had with so much confidence accepted it and because of her if it breaks then they both will fail in it.

Padmavati continued 'aaj Shantala ko dekha. Jaante ho uski beti bhi musalmaan se shaadi ki, bhaag ke. kitna badal gayi ab. burkha bhi pehnti hai. humari arohi bhi pura badal jayegi' she cried 'main nai dekh sakti, tum log jaante nai ho mujh par kya beet rahi hai, yeh sab kyun hua, humne galti kaha ki, ise wohi ladka mila tha pyaar karne ke liye, tumhare tarah apne hi community mein koi nahi mila, main sabko apna muh kaise dikhaungi' she sobbed. Arohi could not bear anymore she walked back to her room. 'aapko galatfaimi huyi hai ma, maine jis ladki se pyaar kiya woh apni biradari ki nikli, maine jaat dekh ke pyaar nahi kiya tha'. It did not matter to his mom, since it was all done. 'aur aap yeh kyun sochte ho ki Arohi sab kuch apna chod degi. ho sakta hai woh ab jaisi hai vaise hi rahegi. Agar aapne apni marzi se bhi shaadi karavoge kisise bhi, toh waha jaake bhi Arohi badal jaayegi na. unke taur tareeke thoda toh apnayegi, kyunki waha par hi use apni life bitani hai. aap yaad karo aapne apne bahu ko kitni cheeze badalne ko kaha tha. Har ghar mein alag riwaaz hote hai. kya aap Arohi ki khushi nahi chahti? aur yeh bhaag nahi gayi na, sabke consent se shaadi karna chahte hai, unhe ek mauka toh dena padega, main dad ke sath hoon'. 'aur burkha zaroori nahi ki sab pehne. bahut log mandir bhi jaate hai aur dargaa bhi. aap itna mat socho jaake so jaao' Aakash consoled his mother and asked her to sleep. 'neend nai aayegi mujhe' her mom resisted. 'aap aise jaagkar bhi kuch hasil nai kar sakte. abhi aap so jao, main arohi se baat karta hoon thodi der'.

Aakash came to Arohi, 'tum theek ho?'. Arohi looked at her brother and nodded her head in a no. 'so Arjun haan?'. She tried to smile. 'mujhe bhi nahi bataya tha?' 'sorry, main batane wali thi, lekin itne mein yeh sab ho gaya' 'Have I met him?' 'nai aap bahut kam baar aaye the. jab aayega woh toh miladungi'. 'mujhe laga tha tum abhi bahut choti ho, bahut badi ho gayi ho'. 'aapko bhi gussa hai mujh par?' 'nahi , gussa nahi, dar hai ki kahi tum galat toh nahi kar rahi ho' 'nahi, agar aap arjun se miloge toh aap bhi yahi kahoge ki main galat nahi hu'. 'one year ka challenge, jeet paogi?' 'jeetna padega. agar arjun ko vishwas hai toh mujhe bhi hai'. Aakash smiled at his little sister. 'maine suna ma kya bol rahi thi. yakeen mano bhayya, arjun aisa nai hai jo mujhse woh karvayega jo mujhe pasand nahi. Main khud apna mazhab badal ne ke liye tayyar thi. Arjun nahi maana, usne kaha aisa hai toh main shaadi hi nahi karunga. Use main jaise hoon vaisa hi pasand hoon. ma ko darne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai. aur agar mujhe arjun ke liye kuch apnana padega toh main tayyar hoon'. Aakash was impressed by Arohi's courage and confindence. 'all the best' he wished her. Arohi was very happy that atleast one person wished her in this ordeal. Even tough she felt sad for her mom, she had no other option than to follow her heart, she hoped her mother would eventually understand her.

Akash went to his dad who was still reading. 'bahu kaisi hai?' 'she is fine, papa'. He waited for a while 'aapne jo shart rakha arohi ke liye, woh mujhe sahi laga' 'mujhe bas arohi ki khushi chahiye, ab waqt hi batayega ki Arohi ki future kya hai' 'agar woh dono jeet gaye, toh kya aap shaadi ke liye raazi ho jayenge?' 'agar woh shart jeet gaye toh mujhe bhi apne baat rakhna hoga na, agar shart jeetne ke baad apna mazhab badalna chahti hai toh tab bhi main kuch nahi kahunga, kyunki use ek saal sochne ka mauka diya hai maine'. 'woh nai badlegi, matlab dono chahte ki koi nahi badle'. 'jaise woh dono theek samjhe... tum mile ho uss ladke se?' 'ji nai. aap mile ho na. aapko kaisa laga? arohi ke liye theek hai?' 'Arohi meri beti hai, jise bhi chunegi sahi chunegi, lekin ek pita ke naate mere jo farz hai maine kiya' he said resigning the topic. Akash knew his dad . He wanted her to be sure that she knows what she is doing. While father and son were talking, Arohi's mom came in, now after knowing she wont get any support from her son, she decided to find a groom for Arohi herself.
