R.I.P/An epitaph/A new born show

I used to watch a show called IPKKND which I thought was "different". Well, from now on, I will still watch it.
We are masochistic people after all. Love to BE tortured, love to SEE a girl being tortured (in an emotional see saw) in the name of love.

But, I will watch it with the new realization that this was "just another of those serial products from the assembly line production chain of the factory called SP".

I would not have said it, if I knew they had any chance of correcting their gaping flaws any more.
But, unfortunately they don't. They can think that umpteen innovative ways of romancing will cover us with enough goose bumps to last our life time. But the actual scenes required to redeem this mess are very different. And whosoever is creating 'this' now, does not have the capacity to think of it.

The lack of those scenes will always bother me. And do read on more to know why. Hopefully, you will understand my practicality behind it.

In the Intro section in this forum, you have to mention why you like this show.
I think, of all the things that they read from there, the CVs found holding on to BS and SI the easiest way to keep the show on air.

There is no doubt that we LOVE these two people and speaking for myself, i am a sucker for romance too. I love the intensity and passion of it. I know when it works for the heroine to think with her heart and when with her mind for the hero to feel the suitable feelings towards her.

But above everything, there is a question of being "individuals by their own right". That is where the show was different.

People got "inspired" to write so many OS, FFs on the two characters because they understood how each would behave under different circumstances. And this individuality is what made the leads do an honest soul-searching for 7 long months before giving a 'name' to their feelings.

The moment you start playing around with your character, you lose your identity. And if that is gone, this becomes the story of the kind of 'love' that any body can feel any day for some one.

I am sure the CVs are racking their brains to come up with more Arnav-ish and Khushi-ish moments to keep us glued as I said. And all the drama, ambiguous looks (that we are going crazy while deciphering) and "keep the tension up" way of direction is essentially for keeping viewers hooked as well.

Except that, the kind of viewers who liked the "difference" in the show will keep thinking

"Why, why did Arnav not give Khushi's khushiness a single thought? Why after all this time did he not at least speak to her- even with his "know the human psyche" methods - about what is with her and Shyam?
"Why, why did Khushi behave most uncharacteristically dumbly that day?" ?
"He didn't have to trust her in the end..that is his 'past' ...that is his 'flaw'...but not behaving in 'Arnav's way'? How could that happen??"

To me, that will kind of spoil the mood when next Arnav will look at her with "tormented love" in his eyes. I would think - "So he is tormented becoz he loves the home-breaker of his Di or because he hates what he is doing to his innocent 'love'" ??

It might be a good tool to keep me thinking except that the story all over has to show consistency with that given train of thought, which I know for a fact is not the CVs cup of tea. Not because of creativity issues but because in a daily soap format, you cannot manage so many open-ended strings successfully simply because of the little time that goes into 'thinking'.

That is why they should have just sat back and thought - "What would Arnav/Khushi do now?" and let it happen instead of bringing in the usual soap cliches of creating drama.

Well, now that they have done that, there is no turning back. Just going to enjoy ArHi touching and grabbing and reading symbolisms out of that.😊

p.s. - Hoping to present some of those redeeming scenes to my like-minded emotionally spent friends in the forum in some time.

Agree with you... I never used to watch Indian soaps -- hate the potrayal of women in them --- thought IPKKND was different -- mainly because of Khushi.
Let's see -- I think I will go back to "Bones" , "Criminal Minds" , BBC Entertainment -- atleast the women there are strong and fight back... and are thinking women...
R.I.P... my hopes... let's see how long I will watch.!
BTW , I live in India -- lived in a joint and traditional( orthodox ) family after marriage and am a career woman -- I understand the reality... I guess we need to wait some more time for a serial that has a mature and thinking heroine !!👎🏼

@newbiesoapfan.

Thank you for agreeing.😊
And yes, it was different mainly because of Khushi. Have seen 'angry young men' on TV before though Sobti plays it extremely well taking it to another level.

I want Khushi to fight back like she did at the construction site for wrongdoing on Arnav's part. Like the tea throwing scene. I sympathize with him but from KKG's point of view what he's doing is grave injustice, so he should fight back. But I am worried that her love and weakness for Arnav will be used to show her softer side and she will be the "ideal bahu" Arnav's mother pictured for him. In other words, the one who takes the anger and gives only love. It's ok from an indulgent mother's point of view, but I want KKG to be herself and fight back like a tigress. He loves her for it and he will soon see reason.

@wesha yes they need to have a take 2 of the story instead of just the shots😉
I would excuse them if they went back to the terrace scene starting Monday and Arnav arrives just a little earlier. There are ways to move the story forward without the cliched pregnancy and misunderstanding. For example they could connect Shyam to Malik Chacha... and Khushi back to the Maliks as well.. complicate it that way...

@red. Yes. yes, that's the key point. She just needs to be herself and HER story and HIS story will take care of itself. I don't even want to use the force of my prediction to change that kind of story.

But, for once, I thought, the characters, the story and the script would rule. But, alas!!

@underlined. Yes. She is capable of that kind of sacrificing love. But she is also capable of setting the one she loves on the right path. And the Khushi I knew WILL think - "Arnav, my love, I know what torments you are going through and what torment I am going through seeing you go through it and knowing I am in some way responsible for it. So, hate me as much as you can but don't do anything that will make you hate yourself so much that your world will darken with guilt. So, scream at me, hurt me but LISTEN to me and follow me."

The story can take all the turns of mistrust and misunderstanding even after this dialogue because Arnav is still haunted by his past trust issues. But this conversation from Khushi takes away nothing from her soft, loving side, only enhances it.

Yes, the past, as I always said. They are people who are built out of their past experiences. The baggage from that often overshadows our logical actions.

That needs to be SHOWN. If Arnav is finding it hard to trust Khushi because of his past, his Di's past, he needs to be shown retrospecting on that. After, off course, he is shown to have tried hard to use his logical brain to understand Khushi's involvement in the whole affair. These scenes are absolutely necessary to keep the characters and their flaws and their love in place. They also have no negative effect on the drama that they want to brew up for the sake of TRPs ( after all, they need those TRPs too, no denying that ).

Why do so many people (500) view posts and then not leave any comments?

Its ok if you disagree with me, you know?

Hi Wesha,
I also hope Khushi does not take it lying down. She should assert herself. Right now I think she is more bewildered with the turn of events, and is confused. But soon she will fight back, yet stay with Arnav to tackle Shyam.
On a positive note I hope (fingers crossed) that inspite of the cliched story the treatment will be different. And that depends on the director.
