50 YEARS OF MELODY

Kerala's Gana Gandharavan Dr K J Yesudas has just completed 50 years of service in the music industry, and quite naturally, this calls for a huge celebration. The who's who of the film and music industries, which Yesudas has worked closely with, dropped by to honour the singer. On stage, the evening was hosted by one music director each from the past five decades that Yesudas has spent in the industry. The singer himself sang a couple of his all-time hits in both Malayalam and Hindi. Also joining him impromptu on stage were actors Suresh Gopi, Manoj K Jayan, Kavya Madhavan and Nedumudi Venu. Actresses Samvritha Sunil, Dhanya Mary Varghese and Asha Sharath put up a special dance show each too.
Much to the surprise of the audience, the chief guest at the occasion, actor Mammootty, was so charged up that he took over the role of the anchor. Naturally, the cheering just did not end.
Superstar Rajnikanth too made his presence felt, albeit only through a message in Tamil that was read at the event by his daughter, director Aishwarya Rajnikanth Dhanush.
Other celebrities at the show included Sonu Nigaam, Shreya Ghoshal, Illayaraaja, K S Chithra, Kunchako Boban, Jayaram, Narain, M G Sreekumar, Rimy Tomy, Unni Menon, Vineeth Kumar, Ranjini Haridas, Tini Tom, Siddique, Swetha Mohan, Afsal, Balamurali Krishna, Beena Kannan, M Jayachandran, John, Kamal, G Venugopal, Sathyan Anthikad, Madhu Balakrishnan and Manjeri.
