So after having read your pre-requisite earlier, i decided to give the show KTLK a try, but it hasn't really captured my full attention, mainly coz of Mallika, and the routine scheming and plotting that seems to be going on in every other serial, being followed here.

Thanks Ben 😊 About the show, well I have also given up on it. I watch it only if there is nothing else to do. Its just too silly now a days.

Nidhi's heart skipped a beat when she saw Ashutosh entering the record room. It was the first glimpse she had gotten of him after four days. He was surprised to see her there though and stopped in his tracks.

"Aap yahan kya kar rahi hain?"

"Meri duty yahan lagi hai."

"Record room mein?" Ashutosh was surprised, "Aisa kya kaam hai yahan?"

"Kuchh khaas nahin. Patients ki files update karni hain."

"Lekin..." Ashutosh was about to say that it didn't need a doctor to be there, but he stopped himself. He must not talk much to her. Anyway, it must be Mallika's doing.

"Sir," Nidhi could not help calling him as he made to leave the room after taking out the file he needed.

"Yes?"

"Aap theek to hain na?"

"Mujhe kya hoga?"

"Aapko hospital mein dekha nahin kai dinon se..."

"Dr. Nidhi. Main apni duty ke time par aa raha hai. I guess tab aapki duty nahin rahi hogi," Ashutosh had to try hard to maintain his curt tone when she was inquiring after his wellness so sweetly, "Aap bas apne kaam par dhyaan dijiye."

"Yes Sir," she replied in a small voice. His curtness had obviously despirited her.

Ashutosh walked out before his facade would break down in front of her.

"Mallika. Mere office mein aao," he called her up on his way to the office.

Nidhi sat in the record room listlessly for a while. What was happening to her life? She could not bear Ashutosh to be like that with her. She must talk to him. She must clarify. Her feelings were no sin. She didn't want him to reciprocate those feelings. May be, may be if she clarified all this, he would not be so angry with her.

"Mallika. Record room mein ek doctor ki duty lagane ki kya zaroorat hai?" Ashutosh came straight to the point. He was furious, but tried to speak as calmly as possible.

"Agar tum Dr. Nidhi Verma ki baat kar rahe ho to woh wahin theek hain."

"Koi bhi doctor wahan theek nahin hai Mallika. This will not be done. I will not allow is here."

"To tum mere kaam mein interfere karoge?"

"Yes Mallika," Ashutosh said and it was at this moment that Nidhi came to his office, but stopped at the door on hearing his voice, "Apni dosti ke liye main unprofessionalism bardasht nahin kar sakta. Tum Dr. Nidhi ke baare mein personally kya sochti ho, ya main kya sochta hoon, that doesn't matter in this hospital. Only things that matter are what are professionally right and what are good for the patients and the hospital. No further dicussions on this Dr. Mallika. Let her complete today's duty, but this must not happen again. Thank you."

Nidhi realized that Mallika would be coming out of his office anytime. So, she moved away from there to avoid any awkward confrontation. She was left with mixed feelings after that. Thankfully Dr. Ashutosh did not think that she deserved to be in the record room doing clerical work. But what were the personal opinions he was talking about. They could not be good. At least not any longer. Why else would he avoid her like that? And talk to her so curtly?

Ashutosh was equally restless in his office after Mallika left. What was he to do? How lovingly and innocently had she asked him if he was all right. And he had replied so curtly. Her face had fallen and he had felt like something piercing his heart. And to top that there was Mallika. Always ready to make her life difficult. Last three days he had not even been around to help her, to protect her. That was because he felt the need to protect her from himself. But... Was he being fair to her? Oh God! What was he to do?

As if his agony was not enough already, he heard the knock on his door. He recognized that knock. When he looked at the door, the silhoutte confirmed that it was her. He sighed audibly. She was not deterred, when no response came from him. She came in anyway.

Ashutosh could not put back the stern expression on his face. His agony, his confusion were written all over his face and his stooping posture.

They just looked at each other for a few moments.

Nidhi spoke first, "Aap itne pareshaan kyon hain?"

"Main pareshaan nahin hoon."

"Ye to aapki shakal par dikh raha hai ki aap pareshaan hain."

"That's none of your business Dr. Nidhi Verma," Ashutosh managed to be curt again.

"It is my business because..." she stopped.

His heart wanted her to complete the sentence. But his brain told him that it was better if she didn't.

"It shouldn't be. Aapko koi matlab nahin hona chahiye. Aap apni duty par jaiye."

"Lekin..."

"Go. Now." Ashutosh ordered firmly and just short of shouting. He wasn't going to give her a chance to speak.

Nidhi went out recluctantly.

The exchange didn't have the effect on her that Ashutosh had hoped for. She found every thing about his behaviour to be artifical. Nidhi could see that Ashutosh was trying hard to be rude with her. If he was angry with her, why would it be so difficult for him? And if he wasn't, why was he behaving that way? If only he would talk!

ashu 's trying hard on his himself not to express himself... but pyaar ko der thak chupa nahi saktha ...u have written it wel yaar...
