I think that use of the Raaz is twofold:

In one way, as you guys say, in one way it was to perhaps bring Bania nd Jai closer. In yesterday's episode she proved to him that she would choose him over knowing the truth, because she cared. He in turn has to realize that she cares for him, and that he also cares.

Secondly, I think it will introduce new characters, who have an over arching role, over the Walia's, the Dixits, the Chopras, and the Shuklas. Someone who is almost more powerful in some way than all the wealthy families shown. Thats some power huh? 😆 (BTW-- i just had a light bulb moment about this today... its a hunch, but you never know!)...

And finally the Raaz will be an overarching plot thickener. Course they have wayyyy too many loose ends already that they need to tie up. Lets see what happens.
