'CHENNAI'S OPENED ITS DOORS FOR ME'

…says actor Siddharth, who is eyeing Kollywood this time round, both as an actor and producer

In 2012, Boys star Siddharth is relooking at his position in Tamil cinema and is keen on upping it. One of the first steps towards this comes in the form of being actor-producer of Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, in which he stars with Amala Paul.
"The film has a lot of verbal joist," starts off the actor, "It is very conversation-based and different from the romantic films that I've done before." The businessman in him comes to the fore with this film as he's releasing it in Telugu as well. "It makes financial sense that way. I'm fully aware of my limitations in Kollywood," says the
actor who's well-known in Tollywood. Billed as a quirky, cute love story, he has a lot of hopes pinned on this film. His last film in Tamil, Jayendra's Nootrenbadhu, was a damp squib at the BO. But the actor says, "I'm quite satisfied with how it did. I don't believe in post-mortems but the film was technically very good. Most importantly, Jayendra, my mentor, made the film he wanted to." And he acknowledges that Chennai seems to have suddenly opened its doors for him. He states, "I've a lot of work lined up here this year and am looking forward to it."
Siddharth also has a penchant for working with new directors, the latest being director Balaji Mohan of Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi. "I don't know if working with two big directors (Mani Ratnam and Shankar) in my initial films has anything to do with this," he smiles, "But, I'm proud that I've launched the careers of many filmmakers. They come with such strong ideas and having been an assistant director myself, I know how hard it's for them."
Next up for the actor in Tamil is a film with Vetri Maaran's associate. "It's still too early to discuss about that but yes, I'm doing it," he signs off.
