Repeated enquiries were answered by the same reply by SP. "We will continue to entertain you." These were mere words from a channel which failed to feel the pain and anguish of its loyal viewers.
Then came a cursory reply. Navya was going to end on 13th February. The fans were shattered. They expressed their anger, cried protested but in vain. Who would listen to them? Certainly not a channel that appeared to be totally insensitive to the pain of so many viewers. And I was under the mistaken impression that for any entertainment channel, the viewers were the most important. May be the "Nayi Soch" is something else. Maybe it is "Trample over the emotions of viewers"! Or maybe- "Turn a deaf ear to their cries."
I had forgotten that the channels were no longer their own masters. They were ruled by the trps- statistical findings that seems to determine the fate of the serials. Human hearts, feelings, needs are replaced by data and numbers.
Well Navya may not have had high trp ratings. Yet it was not so bad. Going by statistics, many serials with lesser trps are still thriving. Then why did this serial have to die? Views, sentiments and opinions expressed in the social networking sites are definitely a proof of how popular Navya was. Yet these human voices were ignored.
The channel has risen to lofty heights. Sitting in the high citadels of glory and power they seem to feel they are invincible. They think it is alright to ignore the viewers who have helped them reach the top.
In this transitory world, money and power never remain for ever. But love is eternal. Today the channel has severed that bond of love.
