I do not know what to make of it. lol. To be honest if you flip it I won't be able to accept it as well.@ this topic. Yes its wrong. Yes its double standards.

More of a cultural thing and that is inequality, not a double standard.

yeah it is inequality, but double standards imply inequality, hence the name.

Not always. Double standards have more to do with hypocrisy. A politician, for example opposes tax increase... unless his own party does it. Then he supports it. Where is his standard? Yeah, that's double standard.

Feeling better?
None of the above qualifies for double standard. They are all cultural/traditional things.

that is double standards, but take the examples from 1.your post and then 2.the topic.
1.When the non virgin wants a virgin but doesn't feel the need for people to reject his sister because she's not a virgin , that is double standards because what applies to others doesn't have to apply to his own kith and kin. Agreed.
2. When the non virgin only wants a virgin as a bride, then it is also double standards as it is clear that his desire for a virgin does not mean that the girl should have any problem with him being a non virgin. The fact that he offers himself on the marriage market as a non virgin but says "oh no, I only want virgins" shows that he has double standards.
I feel that the difference is between 1 and 2 is that he has double standards on behalf of a third party, ie, his sister(s), and that he has double standards for himself. So say we are to discuss this in terms of inequality in 1. the non virgin sister and the non virgin girl are not given the same rules(thus inequality) and 2. him and the girl, both being non virgins are not being given the same rules(again, inequality) It doesn't matter if he says "I want only virgins" or "I don't want this girl as she is a non virgin", it's the same thing. Plus double standards are the same as inequality as when there are two different standards, the fact that they are different(and hence not equal) show that they imply inequality.
However this is just my opinion, you and I may like to define or rather interpret terms differently.
BTW, I have fun reading your posts. :-) Hope I can look forward to reading more of them.
