Why only because she is dark in complexion. Isn't her mother dark too? She managed to get married too so why not Krishna? Why does she have to be married to someone who was already married once? Also, if Krishna does manage to become an officer wouldn't that make it easier to marry her off later as she will have a good job???
When Saraswati said this I don't think that she thought of Krishna's complexion for one minute...I think she was referring to the fact that apparently Krishna was unable to do household chores like the rest of the sisters and the way she apparently forgets everything esle when she is studying. For her, Krishna may be brilliant academically but quite naive when it came to the ways of the world - she wanted her to accept what she considered as their reality.
