I feel that she can manage both things properly. She did learn to make tea and do those chores that she never did before:
going to shop to buy vegetables
helping Babho in kitchen
cleaning the utensils
She has been balancing her work. i am sure that she will learn the work fast. If someone doesn't know kitchen work doesn't mean they are not fit to be DIL. DIL has more respinsibilities than just cooking in kitchen all day long.

Mostly nowdays Girls focus on Education and their parents give cooking crash courses before marriage. Which works very well.

Her marriage was kind of an accident and hence she never got any hands on training. Beilive me you cannot cook while reading reciepes first time itself.

So its ok that Sandhyaji doesnt know cooking.
I think she should have known how to make tea..But its her decision..

The main point is and I will qoute:
"Where there is a will there is a way.
He who resolves upon doing a thing, by that very resolution often scales the barriers to it, and secures its achievement. To think we are able, is almost to be so -- to determine upon attainment is frequently attainment itself. "

Sandhyaji is ready to learn and she will!!!! Thats the beuty of any person who is willing to learn or correct...

All my life I've been told, "Beta go study, the kitchen is not the place for you" so I learnt how to use a match turning a bunsen burner on for chemistry rather than on a cooking device. I think I sympathize with her more because I'm in the same boat. My parents definitely treated me like a son rather than a daughter.

Knowing about ghar key kaam is all about lifestyle I suppose. For me and my friends Kheer comes out of a kheer mix box and the maid buys, cooks and serves the bhindi. Everyone's norms about what they should know are different from the others.

Cooking requires a lot of practice to develop instincts. Learning recipes is definitely not enough. I've tried cooking mashed potatoes only once and it took me four hours to get the whole dish done (don't ask ๐Ÿ˜›).

When my parents got married my mother did not know how to cook. My father is the one who taught her ๐Ÿ˜† Merey ghar key diya and baati.

sorry - cannot agree- Sandhya was shown by Suraj how to make tea int he dhramashala and yet she made horrible tea back at home. If she is so bright that she can learn in one attempt all the complicated dishes, then she should be shown as being consistently smart and not as sometimes bright. Her being shown as stupid in the kitchen reduces her portrayal as bright.
