My first topic for the new year! 😉 I think it is interesting to explore Bollywood's attempted efforts at making films about ROCK music or its themes. The first film that explored this subject was ROCK ON with Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal. The film was critically acclaimed and a commercial success. And Ranbir's latest ROCKSTAR was also a success, critically acclaimed. Ranbir is walking away with awards for his role and major appreciation! But the question is, can Bollywood still attempt to make good films in this genre?! Have you enjoyed ROCK ON and ROCKSTAR? And if you wanted your favorite to attempt films like this in the genre, can they do it?!

Please share your thoughts.
😊👏

i think Rock on and Rockstar were pretty good attempt. Personally, I am not a fan of Rock music. I am more of a slow melody person. But nonetheless i still liked them and want them to make more movies of this genre instead of making movie about mindless extra marital affair 😳

G-man i like your big emoticon 😉

I think the Indian youth are warming up to rock themed films now! 😊 Rockstar put Ranbir in a completely different league. Rock music is not for everyone, it is perceived to be loud and very different from the ordinary. Rockstar's love story was very weak and contrived. I wish the directors would focus more on the narrative, the love stories are distractions!!!! 😕😆 Thanks for liking the emoticon Tuli! 🤗

oh that's so true... They focus more on the love stories rather than the actual genre 😆 but i guess this is just warm up for Indian audience.. and with time people will come up with more ideas and actors that audience will accept and like.

Between Farhan and Ranbir.. i see Ranbir as the better actor and Rockstar 👍🏼

Hell to the no! They butcher my favorite genre of music time and again!Rock on was a pile of wannabe crap. Rockstar was even more idiotic. Jim Morrison must be rolling in his grave as we speak... Puny men trying to ape Rockstars...doesn't work that way. There's no aura of a rockstar around them. Farhan Akhtar? Ranbir Kapoor?

agree with her. When I saw Rock On. I was like... um... indians... rock? ... um what? and then I heard about Ranbir as Jim Morrison in Rockstar... um NO. what an Insult to The Doors. it would've been like making a movie with SRK as Lennon. they would kill iconic vocalists. 😔

They can make good films but most of the times, they get lost in aping the west, trying to act like rockstars rather than creating their own rock style for the film.
