the characters are weired but not strange.these type of people do exist in the real world.the only weired thing for me is too many selfish useless people in one family.sometimes, i think, how come indira is a part of this(!) family.

Yep the family is weird, but such people do exist in real life. I find Indira's mum, dad and brother to be the most believable characters. Despicable, yes, but so real.

Munna especially, is great as the irresponsible good for nothing with a chip on his shoulder and a certain charm which makes people fall for him although he is a bane on those who love him. We've all seen such people, loved to hate them, and wondered if they will ever change. Some never do, and cause a lot of heartache through life. I find his character the most realistic, having seen exactly such namune in my life.

Kutumb is so typical of the woman who can't see beyond her husband and son. We may dislike her harshness to Indira, but there are women who behave exactly like that with their daughters, who are after all second class citizens. One feels like shaking her hard, but it won't do any good because she's in her own fantasy world.

Inder Sharma is believable as the father who is possibly sensitive to his kids feelings, but wants more than anything to please his new wife and therefore doesn't care for his responsibilities.

The stepmum is good too by the way, typical jealous, paranoid second wife.

Mandira, I don't find her role particularly interesting, but she is also the typical college girl who thinks the world exists only for her pleasure.

Sunaina bhabi is the only one who is a bit OTT, but I guess she's there for comic relief and it works for me.

What I'm trying to say is, perhaps you find it strange because there are all these negative characters, but each character is believable in its own right, and each brings a dimension to Indira's story.

Rishi on the other hand, I won't like him till his mystery is revealed. Right now he is just not believable to me.

Sorry for the essay, didn't mean to write that much.😆

i totally agree...actualy middle-class families are not rishton ki puja jahan ho, aadar bado ka wahan ho honestly...it takes one thing going wrong(in this case father, the head of family himself leaving house) and all emotions fall flat...and everyday living is especially really tough when you're just scraping by and that's exactly what Indira is doing making both ends meet, for ishaan, to run the household. a middle class joint family is all about putting-up with each other's extremely irritating habits. but still family is family that is why they cry, they shout, they fight but ultimately they live together. i would also say that even indira is not perfect. she is far from perfect actually. the big message really is that problems are a part of life. no one has it easy. life is tough for some, and worse for others like indira, but that does not mean that the latter stop living. that's where indira is totally wrong, she has a lot of problems no doubt, but at least she has a family, at least she has ishaan. and this family can be much happier if she is happy and spreads happiness. ur working

I don't quite agree. They are probably strange to you because you've never met such people in your life. You've most probably lived in the upper rung of society or maybe had a better life. (Not saying that you've not faced problems) But unfortunately, such people exist in society, all around the globe. The world today runs based on self-centred people & that's exactly what Indira's family is.
But i do agree with you that Indira's plight is really sad.

I agree with most people on here. Such people do exist in real life. And as someone rightly pointed out, its not common to see such over the top weird characters in daily soaps.

Actually, sunaina bhabhi and Mandira reminds me of my paying guest days in Delhi almost 10 years ago. The family I used to live with had this Bhabhi who was a Xerox copy of Sunaina. Her husband of course was sane, LOL. And the family had a daughter who was sort of like Mandira. hahahaha...

Its just that Indira's mum, Inder Sharma, and Mandira are so EASILY despicable. Its of course my own opinion. I still find Munna, Sunaina, and Jhumpa tolerable.

By the way, they all are doing a great job playing these characters.
