Akshay back to MasterChef India!
The actor, who was once rumoured to be anchoring the current season, dropped out of it around August this year, stating that he didn't have the required dates. Also, his show, Khatron Ke Khiladi Torchaar, was ending too close to the culinary reality show's opening. He had reasoned that he didn't want anyone to associate him with two rival channels in a single year, within a gap of two months.
MasterChef India 2 ends on January 1, 2012 with Akshay Kumar as the celebrity guest-judge on the show. He is likely to announce the winner's name and hand over the prize to him or her. Airing on Star Plus, the show is only two weeks away from the grand finale, which will have the remaining top chefs battle it out for the title of MasterChef.
Nitin Vaidya, business head, Hindi channels for Star Network, confirms the news and says, "It's our pleasure that Akshay managed to take time out of his schedule for this show. We are working out a plan to ensure that we make it worth his time."
The numbers for the show, that airs almost in the same slot as the previous season, have been between 1.5 and 2.5 across weeks, which is higher than the previous season. Buzz is that the channel plans to continue to ride high, with Akshay Kumar taking charge of the next season that should start next year.
Nitin adds, "This year has been extremely fruitful for the format and in turn, for us. The content has been loved and followed by many people across the country. We have no complains."
Akshay Kumar to be celebrity judge on grand finale of 'Master Chef India Season 2'
Now that Star Plus' popular cooking reality show 'Master Chef India Season 2' is two weeks away from its grand finale, buzz is that Superstar Akshay Kumar has been roped in to appear on the grand finale of the show. Akshay Kumar had hosted the last season of Master Chef India, however due to his prior commitment towards Colors show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi Torchaar', Akshay turned down the offer. He was then replaced by Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna.
The grand finale of Master Chef India Season 2 will take place on Jan 1, 2012 and buzz is that Akshay Kumar will announce the winner of the show and hand over the winning prize to the contestant. News is also doing the rounds that Akshay has been signed in again to host the next season of Master Chef India, which will start soon next year.
Business head of Hindi Channels of Star India Pvt Ltd, Nitin Vaidya says that, they are extremely pleased to get Akshay on the grand finale of Master Chef India and are looking forward to make the actor's presence in the show worth it.
Meanwhile in the last episode, Vijaylakshmi, Shazia and Shipra filled the top 3 positions that were left to be filled after Joseph and Rajendra Mane. The contestants had to face the challenge of New York pastry king Chef Jehangir Mehta of Christmas Wonderland in the earlier episode.
In the finale week the top 5 finalists of Master Chef India 2, Rajendra, Joseph, VijayLakshmi, Shazia and Shipra Khanna will meet the final challenge from acclaimed chef Sanjeev Kapoor.Akshay Kumar may come back to MasterChef India 2 on 1st Jan 2012
Akshay Kumar was the chief judge of the MasterChef India season 1 on the star plus channel. In MasterChef season 2, the Michelin starrer Vikas Khanna replaced Akshay Kumar.
MasterChef India season 2 is supposed to have its finale on January 1, 2012. It is rumoured that Akshay Kumar will be the special guest judge on the Masterchef India 2. He will be presenting the awards to the winning contestant.
MasterChef India 2 aired on the Star Plus is just two weeks away from its grand finale.
For the winner position, there are five contestants competing named Rajendra, Joseph, Shazia, Shipra and Vijaylakshmi.
Other rumor in the air is that the famous chef Sanjeev Kapoor may accompany Akshay Kumar. Sanjeev Kapoor will be giving the final challenge to the contestants in the show.
