We've actually heard several times through DD herself that she's a Gujarati.
Besides, most of the cast aren't Punjabi anyway with the exception of Anju Mahendru (Dadi) and Adithi Chopra (Pinky) and maybe Lucky.. GC himself said he was a Bihari
But, like several of you already quite rightly said, what does it matter where they come from. Ultimately, they are all Indians and entertain all of India and abroad.
