TOI: Top 10 TV entertainers of the year-YRKKH

As 2011 comes to an end, we give you the list of serials/games shows that made the year most entertaining. With a mutltitude of characters who played a role on the small screen, some stories enthralled...

Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana seems to have piqued the audience' interest the most, closely follwed by Yeh Rishta Ky Kehlata Hai, again from the Star Plus umbrella. Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta shone brightly while evenColors came out with a few winners in the form of Balika Vadhu and Uttaran. Star Plus' Pratigya helped the channel remain atop while the new serial Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, aired on SONY, seems to have caught the fancy of very many. On The Game show front the Amitabh Bachchan hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati was the big winner. Sasural Genda Phool and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon - aired on Star Plus - also made it to 2011's Top 10 TV Entertainers list.

SAATHIYA SAATH NIBHANA (STAR PLUS)
Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is the story of a saas-bahu relationship retold through a young and simple girl's point of view, whose name is Gopi. Raised by her loving Mama and tyrannical Mami, Gopi has been bereft of the true love of a mother. She craves the same love, and hopes to win it from the family she is married into.

YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI (STAR PLUS)
This is a heart warming story of a girl called Akshara who, not unlike millions of other girls in India, knows that her marriage will happen with the consent of her parents and family. Like other young girls, she also has grown up fancying film stars and cricket stars...but to fall in love before marriage remains a distant dream for her.

PAVITRA RISHTA ( Zee Tv)
Pavitra Rishta talks about the strong emotional bond that every daughter shares with her mother. This interesting saga brings in the flavor of the mother-daughter relationship and a mother's search for a desirable match for her daughter.

BALIKA VADHU (COLORS)
Set in rural Rajasthan, 'Balika Vadhu' traces the arduous journey of child bride Anandi from the brink of childhood to womanhood. Married at the tender age of eight, Anandi had to accept and accustom herself to a new family of strangers and accept her roles as a friend, lover, wife and a daughter in law during childhood itself. Now, as a young adult, she faces new challenges as she tries to carve out her own identity in the world.

UTTARAN (COLORS)
Uttaran is a story of two Friends - Ichcha and Tapasya with diametrically opposite backgrounds. Ichcha is the daughter of a maid servant, while Tapasya is the daughter of the landlord of the same house. Inspite of their economic differences, they become the Best of friends. However, jealousy creeps in as Ichcha wins over Tapasya's family with her sweet character. Things worsen when Veer, suitor of Tapasya, falls in love with the good natured Ichcha.

PRATIGYA (STAR PLUS)
The show that began in 2009 came to a graceful end in 2011. Two people - Pratigya and Krishna - who come together for all the wrong reasons fall in love. A boy who does not understand the meaning of love, but wants to acquire what he desires and a girl who is helpless and can save herself and her family only by giving into his demands.

BADE ACHHE LAGTE HAIN (SONY Entertainment TV)
Bade Acche Laggte Hai is the story of two strangers - Priya and Ram Kapoor - who get married. Priya is a happy go lucky woman in her early 30s, not married so far and quite sure that she wouldn't be able to get married ever. Ram Kapoor, a wealthy man in his early 40s, is a ruthless entrepreneur who also believes that he has missed the bus of marriage. But destiny has other things in store for them...

SASURAL GENDA PHOOL (STAR PLUS)
Set in the beautiful alleys of Old Delhi, Sasural Genda Phool is a heart-rending story of two unlikely characters - Suhana and Ishaan. It is a love story of two strangers who fall in love after marriage.

KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI (SONY ENTERTAINMENT TV)
Based on the international game show 'Who Wants to Be a Billionaire', Kaun Bangea Crorepati entered into into its fifth season this year. Again hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the game show proved to be a huge hit and one of the top entertainers of the small screen for the year 2011.

ISS PYAAR KO KYA NAAM DOON (STAR PLUS)
'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon' is a star-crossed love story presenting an interesting contrast of personalities entwined in a relationship swinging between love & hate. Khushi and Arnav have diametrically opposite ideologies. If Khushi believes in means, Arnav believes only in ends. Khushi's relationships are the most important to her, whereas Arnav believes all people come with a price and can be manipulated for one's benefit.
