With sweet and simple looks and a flair for acting, this Gujarati Mumbaiite is being appreciated for her performance as a young, confident, straightforward middle class girl who enters the world of journalism. ''I am so glad people like it'', smiles Ami adding, ''I must say, it is a dream role. Not just because it's the title role but because she is a very interesting character. She suits my personality I relate easily to Kittu because she is so much like me - there are so many things in the show which I feel I have done or I used to do while in college.''

Born and brought up in Mumbai, Ami loves this city. Because it's a city which never sleeps, a city full of dreams. ''You get what you want. I love the kind of life here. I am a pucca Mumbaiite at heart,'' she insists. Ami wanted to be a doctor and did graduate as a science student. Things changed when she began doing Gujarati theatre. Her father is a well-known theatre actor, Tushar Trivedi who has been involved in Gujarati plays for over 20 years. Her brother Karan Trivedi is also into theatre. ''Theatre is great fun. I have done some good work on stage in the last six years,'' says Ami.The actress feels her theatre background helps her perform better as Kittu.

Ami landing the lead role was based on her talent. She didn't even have her photographs taken for self promotion. She went for the audition of Kittu... on the insistence of a coordinator and the next thing she knew she had bagged the role. ''It was very fast. I didn't have any snaps to show to them. The audition went off very well. It was a very interesting scene they had given me and I did it well,'' she recalls with some modesty.

From the naughty brat for whom life is more of dhamaal and masti and playing gully cricket to this character she plays of a serious sober journalist, Ami's put in lot of conviction and life into Kittu. ''After a while, you start living the character. You understand the graph well. It becomes a part of you,'' states Ami.
