Now that you are engaged to Tollywood star Ram Charan Tej, what is it like to be associated with a prominent family in Tollywood and the ensuing media attention?
Both our families are respected for their achievements in their respective fields across the nation ' we need to live up to our families' expectations. All this attention is new to me, but the media has been very supportive.
The engagement was a totally different experience' I had butterflies in my stomach throughout. But friends like Anand Kabra and my siblings made me feel better. To calm down, I got onto the treadmill for 30 minutes before the engagement.
What has Charan gifted you and what surprise did you have in store for him?
I can now spend more time with Charan, that's the best gift I've got. He's an amazing friend and mentor. On another note, he did the most romantic thing of personally working with the jewelers to pick and design my engagement ring. I was thrilled to bits.
Your engagement outfits were a well-kept secret, can you reveal the details at least now?
My green outfit was designed by Anand Kabra. My mom's brief was that the outfit has to be traditional, understated and very South Indian looking. Anand did a great job by playing with colors and making me look like what my mother had dreamt of.
Tarun Tahiliani designed the clothes that were given to me by Charan. Tarun is elegance personified and makes sure every bride feels ecstatic in his ensembles. He was there to make sure I looked great.
Your engagement was the talk of the town. What's the effort that went into making your day memorable?
Dad made sure everything was perfect, while my aunt Sangita took care of the dcor. They, along with mom, transformed our farmhouse to a fabulous set for an engagement. We kept it personal and Hyderabadi ' taking inspiration for the arches and the backdrop from Domakonda.
It's been reported that you had wanted your engagement to take place at Domakonda Fort, why this change of venue to a farmhouse on the city outskirts? Are you disappointed?
I always knew the engagement was going to be in our farmhouse and maybe the wedding will be at our fort. It's dad's call.
When is the marriage? And how are Charan and you preparing for it?
The family elders will announce the wedding date shortly, but it is nice to know that a lot of people really are looking forward to us spending the rest of our lives together.
