I'm still enjoying the feeling of being a daddy: Abhishek

What is the experience of being a father like? I really can't describe the experience... the emotions that overwhelm me every time I hold my baby... It's very sweet that men get a lot of credit for it ,but they actually don't have to do much. The joy and happiness it gives you or the emotions you go through when you hold your child in your arms for the first time are indescribable! I really thought that there was going be this moment when a ray of light from heaven would come pouring in, background music would start playing with angels singing but none of that happens! (laughs)

You must be feeling elated... Of course, I feel all of that and more but I can't put that into words. I remember my brother-in-law ( Nikhil Nanda) had told me when my niece (Navya Naveli) was born, "Abhishek, people will write books and give you tonnes of advice about what you should or should not do but the minute you hold your child in your arms you will know. It will happen naturally."

The foreign media is offering you and Aishwarya millions of dollars to publish your baby's first picture. I have read reports that we have sold the rights of my daughter's photos for a huge amount, but that's not something we would be interested in. It's too personal a thing.

It's three weeks now since your baby was born... (Interrrupts gently with a smile) It's exactly two weeks and two days...

Yes two weeks and two days... Do you feel more responsible now that you are a father? I was always a responsible person. Just because I am always fun-loving and cheerful doesnt mean I am not responsible. I have always been very responsible towards myself, my family, loved ones and most importantly, to my fans. I don't think that will ever change. But if you are asking: have I become more responsible now? Of course I have! You have a new life now which you want to take care of.

You took time out from work to be with your daughter. As every husband and father should...

As every father should you mean... No, I mean as every husband should also. We conveniently forget the people (like our mothers and wives) who also need the love and the care. Of course, it's amazing that this new life has come into our world but the mother (Aishwarya) needs as much love and care as the baby does.

Who does your daughter look like? It's too early to tell. Give me a month and I should be able to tell you better. Right now, all of us would like to think she looks like Aishwarya. People have speculated about the colour of her eyes but it's too soon to say anything as facial features of babies change with time.

Did you want a boy or girl? I have always maintained that the baby should be healthy. Son or daughter? Well, I never thought about that. Honestly.

Will you be a strict father or a lenient one? I haven't yet given it a thought. I'm still enjoying the feeling of being a daddy... It's just about sinking in.

There has been speculation about the names for your daughter. Hadn't you thought of names before your baby was born? Aishwarya and I had shortlisted some names but we didn't know whether we would be having a boy or girl and we didn't want to find out either. We liked the idea of the gender of our child being a suprise. What Aishwarya and I were very keen about is that the name is unanimously liked by the whole family so we are in the process of deciding that.
