Thanks Indianforum for catching those 2 words "spoil" & "promotion". I, too, felt that Dakssh himself has some misconception about gays. Homosexuality is not something that can be promoted or that can spoil someone. I don't know about others but Dakssh I haven't expected this comment from you atleast.

I am not surprised he said or meant that, given all the social stigma associated with gays and supporters of gays. At this time in indian society, there are not that many public figures who want to be known as supporters or advocates of gays, even if they personally understand or accept, probably because they don't want to be blamed by society for "introducing" or "promoting" homosexuality into the indian culture, as if it didn't already exist. I remember in one of the flashbacks in the show, SSP on the phone says something like what is going on with today's youth, they are learning all the bad things from western cultures, now we have a man having an affair with a man. I am glad they showed this because there are many people who share the same view as this character and believe that it's something young people are learning from western cultures and thus getting "spoiled."I was just glad to hear from Dakssh that he respects homosexuality and he supports equal rights for all, which not that many public figures dare to say. Understanding homosexuality but not being able to "promote" or publicly advocate sounded to me more like a political answer. Hopefully, with time, the stigma linked to homosexuality will go away, and the straight people who today are afraid to publicly support their gay friend or gay family member can proudly do so.
