Mr. Singh, I commend you on holding true to your values and not selling out for media or publicity. I agree, it would be so easy for you to play up your status as "first male lead who's playing a gay character" or "one half of Indian televisions' first gay coupling." But would be in a way exploiting homosexuality as an other. It shouldn't be a big deal, but it is. That's the reality in which we live. Perhaps soon, we can break out of these labels and just accept actors as actors, and people as people. Without caring or wondering if someone is really gay or straight based on the role he/she plays.

Can't edit. I meant:

Without caring or wondering if someone is really gay or straight based on the role he/she plays. And without caring if anyone anywhere is gay or straight but rather just see them as people and human beings.

Thanks for interacting with us Daksh,

Honestly, I am following Maryada just because of Gaurav and Vidya's storyline which so brilliantly portrayed by you and vindhya.
As an actor, you are brilliant in Maryada, I mostly watch it for you, though others are also doing fab job.As for Gay track and all, I think it has given you opportunity to play rather complex character and us a chance to watch absolutely normal gay character onscreen instead of comic ones which were typical. Hats off to you pulling off those highly emotional and stressful character of Gaurav with aplomb.

As an artist, you are multi-talented - painter, poet, actor, model (I only know of this much), Please paint as much as you can and exhibit them , they are brilliant and needs to be appreciated just like your poetry which are so relatable.

On personla front,I have to say the more I read about you and see your comments(both fb,IF and interviews), I respect you more.

Small request, after watching Gaurav-Vidya's sizzling chemistry, Chinnu-Vidya seem like like teenage boy having crush on his teacher, please convey our displeasure with chinnu's character and please bring other strong character for Vidya.

Best of luck in all you endeavors.

exactly...pls. pass the word...noone wants chinue with vidya...and that will drop trps...let her be independent...this is a modern show...why can she not have her own identity...why does she have to be someones daughter or wife...

i rather.. gaurav and vidya have their night as vidya wanted, even if instigated by alcohol...whatever...she gets prego...devyani gets the family grandchild...and vidya raises it as a single parent...anything but CHINU with VIDYA>..pls...i bet in a poll, it would be 98% with me on this topic...or how about some outsider ...as is the relationship with uttara and brahma...sick enough...but adding this would be overkill...roshni devi is awesome and in her full swing...it would be great to have her on IF...but the role as sachis mami was so boring and underestimating her talent...watch this show for her along with you guys...and ofcourse babuji is the best...so natural and on the ball with everything going one...the wise family elder to the tee...
your poem was awesome and true...various puppeteers from show writers to the ultimate one above...but we are playing a role to the best of our ability...
another poem to share that you might enjoy...

Vibrant lights
Roused clamor
Flickers of light
Extreme glamour.

Papers after paper
Tired, sore arms
Just keep on smiling
Continue to charm.

Bags under eyes
Another long day
To sit and pretend
Waste your life away.

Cameras are everywhere
You cannot hide
All the rumors that subside
Hurts deep inside.

Unseen by the public
Of internal pains
Unnoticeable feint act
The faade remains.

Glamour so evident
Media preordained
Deem forlorn
Everything unexplained.

Accomplishments surpassed
Yet feeling incomplete
Life is such
Full of Deceit

Oblivious out in the open
Hide your pain
Just keep on smiling.
Cover up the Feign.

Nobody knows
What it's like to be them.
Many unknown facts
All condemned.

Media fakes
Public makes buzz
Having fame makes life
Nothing like it was.

The industry may seem glamorous
But it is far from glam
Every action you make
May be looked upon as a scam.

Nobody knows the truth
Behind the screen
From the public view's eye
Much is unseen.

All we see is
The orthodox of show biz.

Vibrant lights
Roused clamor
Flickers of light
Extreme glamour.

Replied, yes, I m playing a gay character, u knw by just saying I can make an impact of a straight person's mind and I can make him realize if he has sm misconception abt this issue...

But I m sure I am in favor of giving all the gays same rights as straight people have on human level as a citizen of this great country and coz FREEDOM everyone needs, so does gays...

But I will never promote this thing, I guess promoting something and understanding something is far differ... :)

Dakssh,

Your opinion should be respected and glad you made this statement. Understanding homosexuality is definitely the first step the society needs to take, which has been a clear message of your TV show.

Importantly, we need tolerance first, acceptance may come second, although one can't expect everyone to accept homosexuality, but it's more likely if their loved family member or their best friend is gay, then they may come to understand that it's not a choice and realise that it is not something that can "spoil" the minds of young people, or something that can be "promoted" that can influence a change in someone's behavior, as if gays have some agenda. May be that's too much to expect from the society, but hopefully one day we'll get there and as likarsh said above, see a person as a human being not as someone with a certain sexual orientation or even skin color or ethnicity for that matter. Perhaps, one day we can all live without fear of judgment or discrimination. As you said, everyone has a right to freedom and to be happy.

I must applaud you taking out time to interact with your fans here. All points you made are valid and understandable. Going back to the theme of this thread, when can we expect to see your character Gaurav happy again? With Roshni Devi's evil plan being unveiled slowly, things are not looking so good for Gaurav's near future!

This is not about Gaurav. I don't want to see Karan keep going in this downward spiral. He needs to set himself straight (no pun intended, at all), pick himself up and continue with his life. Focus on his art. Focus on something. He shouldn't be seen in this state, and only getting out of that state once he reunites with Gaurav.

No, he is also an individual, and he needs to be strong for himself (and also his mother).

I think both characters can be stronger. One has done wrong, the other has been wronged with. Gaurav needs to fight harder to save his love from self-destruction and as said above Karan needs to realise this is not the way to deal with it.

Hi Dakssh, appreciate your efforts for making time to be on this forum personally. I love Maryada but only started following it after the Karan Gaurav epi was shown. Here in my country, we have Star Plus shows coverage delayed by at least a months episode. Maryada is only aired as a clubbed version ( 1 weeks episodes) on Thursdays and Sundays. The other TV cahnnels don't show Star Plus but only Sony and others. Just to let you know that I have been keeping up-to-date with this show through internet but I have quite a few relatives come over to my home just to watch Maryada. They all love it.
My favourite epi was where Gaurav confronted DIG and Vidya was shot. The emphasis you put in your dialogues here was just great. However, you potray yourself in your role as a very expressive character with naby facets to his emotions wheter it be anger, love, concern, bitterness or happiness. I absolutely love your cute shy smile now and then when your dimples show.
Gays are something which is very common in our country from high ranking govt. officila to general public and each society (be it Indian, Chinese, Fijian, European and others in our multi racial country) looks upon it differently. It's accepted publicly but not understood heartily and in most cases degraded or derided. But the way it is potrayed in Maryada should help parents and friends of these gays to fully comprehend this relationship and understand it as well as accept it though approval may take many more years and a few more Maryada type TV serials and movies genuinely potraying this issue as it is in real life and emphasisng more on the emotions that gays have to go through as well as the social plights and tribulations they have to face.
Love the show and your artful potrayal of the character "Gaurav' and kind regards and appreciation and thanks from all my relatives who watch this show because of your potrayed character in it.
