Part 7

After her entire birthday celebrations, gradually Geet falls asleep on her bed... Maan covers her up with a quilt... Keeps away the popcorn basket... Switch off the lights and get down the staircase to go back to Khurana Mansion... He looks around the house and doesn't find Rano there... He wonders where she is so late at night but shoves away the thoughts and closing the door goes back to his home... He somewhere feels that there is something which is wrong... Something which will change the course of their life... Something which is just not ritght and which should not be happening... He enters the Khurana Mansion and is surprised that its silence there too...

Maan (thinks to himself): Its silence here too... Yahan bhi koi nahi dikhayi de raha hai... Where is everyone??

But then he realises that its almost 3 am in the morning and normally people are fast asleep at this time... He feels so stupid to think of this... He wonders y didn't anyone Daadima, his father or even Geet's father call them up once and ask what were they upto the entire day... But he somewhere knew the answer himself... They must b relaxed thinking that these two friends were together... Whenever she was with him their parents were kind of carefree because they knew these two were always there to take care of each other if not themselves... He smiled thinking of everything which was special around them... Their friendship and their families togetherness was everything he ever had... He changed himself and was just preparing to go to bed when suddenly his phone started ringing...

Maan (checking his watch which showed it was 3:30 in the morning): Kaun hai yaar jo iss time par call kar raha hai??? Mishti bhi na... She must have had a bad dream and now would want me to come to her... She has to learn to grow up... Who will explain it to her...

The phone stopped ringing when he was doing his self talk...

Maan (again to himself): Geet k saath reh rehkar u have also learnt to talk to urself Mr. Maan Singh Khurana... Ye ladki pakka kisi din mujhko pagal kar degi... Anyways who was it calling??

He checked but when he saw an unknown number to call on his mobile he again got some wrong vibrations...

Maan (to himself): This is not Geets number... Who else can call me at this hour... Yaarrr... Should I call back or assume it to be a wrong number???

Meanwhile the phone rings again and he picks up the call... He is shocked because of what he heard... He gets changed quickly grabs his wallet and mobile and rushes to the Handa house... He rings the bell and kept ringing it... He had closed the self lock while leaving and although he did have the keys to her house at his place he didn't have the time and the courage to go back to his home and fish for the keys as he himself was so mismanaged... He kept ringing the bell and for him which seemed eternity Geet opened the door rubbing her eyes... She seemed in deep sleep...

Geet: Maaannn... What time is this to come to someone's place and keep ringing the bell... Aur shayad ghar par koi hai bhi nahi... Because I called out to mom and she didn't respond... Pata nahi kahan chali gayi hain... Dad bhi nahi hain... Mujhe door kholna especially when I am asleep bilkul pasand nahi hai... I hate it... Ab bataoge ki bhi kyun aaye ho... Or u want to keep standing here and watch me ... If u had to do this Mr. Maan Singh Khurana u didn't have to go at first place but ruining my sleep is something u shouldn't have done at all... And haan my birthday is over and I am in no mood of surprises now... This is not the time for more surprises... U should keep some ideas for next year too... Warna u would be ready with an excuse next year ki last year saare ideas finish ho gaye... Now will u speak up what's the matter... Bolo bhi...

Maan (stands there and since he was aware of the upcoming storm he cups her face and very calmly responds to her): Mishti, listen to me... This wasn't planned... We have to go somewhere urgently and all our talks can wait... I want u to change into something simple and come down fast... Listen yaar make it a little fast please...

Geet (becomes aware of her surroundings): Kya hua??? Is someone coming home abhi?? Or are we going somewhere??

Maan: Geet yaar, listen to me first... Change ur dress and come soon... I am waiting for u at the gate and we have to make it fast...

Geet changes into a simple salwar suit and comes down running and amidst all this she too feels there is something which is not fine and something is going on about which she is not yet aware of... Closing the doors of her house, she runs to the gate and finds Maan waiting there for her on his bike...

Geet (a little scared): Maan please tell me where are we going like this and that too so late at night on the bike??? Mera dil keh raha hai ki there is something u r hiding from me.. Please tell me whats going on???

Maan (cups her face in his hands and sees that her eyes are almost in tears. He wipes her tears): Mishti, there is one thing I have to tell u whatever happens... WHATEVER... I am always there with u and I am never gonna leave ur side... And u have to be a strong girl... These tears have no place in ur eyes... None of us... No one... Dad, Daadi, Rano Maa, Uncle and me... No one wants to see tears in ur eyes... I will answer each of ur questions... But abhi we have to go somewhere and we r in a hurry... Everything will be fine...

Geet nods her head... She knew something was terribly wrong and she wanted to know that right now but looking at the circumstances she got onto the bike... They both drove silently to the hospital because that's where they were called... The entire drive was a scary one for both of them... Both trying to find out what was going on in their life and the future which was in store for them... Maan was trying to give strength to Geet when he himself was facing a storm in life... He didn't know if Geet really needed this strength or he himself was in need of someone to look to... The words he spoke to Geet were more he spoke to himself... He knew he has to be the pillar of strength in these difficult circumstances...
