A scene from Coolie No 1
We look at some of the best roles of the young generation: Karisma, Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor.

Coolie No 1 (1995)
Randhir Kapoor's eldest daughter, Karisma, acted in a series of films with Govinda like Raja Babu, Khuddar, Hero No 1, and Saajan Chaale Sasural.
Coolie No 1 deserves special mention for the sheer magic created by Govinda, Kader Khan and Karisma.

A scene from Raja Hindustani
Dharmesh Darshan's Raja Hindustani was the highest grossing film of 1996. The Aamir Khan-Karisma starrer was a major success also because of a controversial kissing scene.
A remake of Shashi Kapoor's Jab Jab Phool Khile, Raja Hindustani was about a small town cab driver falling in love with a rich girl.
Karisma's performance as the rich, beautiful, sensitive young girl, full of dreams, was applauded. She looked outstanding in the film which won her a Filmfare Award.
The following year she won another Filmfare Award and a National Film Award for best supporting actress for Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai.

Based on the life of the ill-fated actress Zubeida Begum, Karisma played the role to perfection.

The film was critically acclaimed and won a National Award for best film and Karisma won another Filmfare Award.

A scene from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
The Karan Johar-directed Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, with its family theme, lavish sets, costumes and jewellery starred Karisma's younger sister Kareena Kapoor.

The film starred the industry's biggest stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kajol. Yet, Kareena managed to shine through as the arrogant Poo.

Next
The Shyam Bengal directed film showed a deglamorised Kareena playing the powerful role of a simple Muslim girl trapped in violence and riots. She did full justice to the role.
Not many know that Kareena sang the song Jab Nahi Aaye The Tum in this film.

A scene from Jab We Met
This is the film that changed Kareena's career, and propelled her to much greater things. This is also the film in which she gave one of her finest performances yet.
As the talkative, irrepressible young woman, she carried the film on her shoulders.
Jab We Met did such good business that it was remade in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada and dubbed in Telugu from Tamil.

A scene from Wake Up Sid
Next
This coming-of-age film set in Mumbai tells the story of a rich spoiled college student Sid, who is taught the meaning of life by an aspiring writer from Kolkata.
Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor's son, got some good reviews for this film for his natural acting and ability to carry off the most absurd scenes with style.

'Any other actor would have looked ridiculous doing these antics. Not Ranbir. A complete natural, he makes it all seem cute. Also, the camera just adores this guy. Shoot him from any angle or length, he rocks', wrote rediff's film critic.

A scene from Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani
This film is one comic trip. There isn't any great story line but the film is full of gags.
Ranbir's energetic performance won accolades like 'this boy has more panache than any of his generation', and comparisons to the late genius Kishore Kumar.

The film may have Ranbir indulging in cake-and-egg slapstick and wearing cleavage-revealing tops, but he carries them off with panache.

A scene from Rockstar
The reason we thought of making this series on the Best of the Kapoors was Ranbir's mind-blowing performance in Rockstar.
The growth of his character from Janardan Jakhar, aspiring rock star in Delhi, to Jordan, an accomplished rock star, Ranbir delivers an impressive performance.

I didn't care to much for Karisma! Bebo and Ranbir have done some really good films, hope they carry the family to even greater heights! 😊

I think Ranbir is easily the best actor of the 3.

The guts he has, neither of the 2 sisters have.

Ranbir is the one with the most inborn talent whereas Lolo improved immensely over time and developed her acting skills.

Bebo is the most entertaining off-screen.

My personal favourite would be Karishma.
