Maintaining a low-key at the birthday bash was yesteryear oomph-girl Katy Mirza, who's now a single parent (following her split years ago) and is settled in London. Madame Mirza, who was once tagged the Dolly Parton of Bollywood (thanks to her twin assets), is still going strong with her acting stints in the UK. "In London, I have acted in over a dozen several TV serials and crossover movies. Recently I shot for this BBC serial called Magician of Samarkand, in the genre of Harry Potter, where I play this graceful queen. And with Rajendrathji, I have acted in his hilarious regional movie called Chadhi Jawaani Budhhe Nu," smiles Katy. Even as her teenaged son Feroz seems inclined towards showbiz, mama Mirza is game for Hindi movie roles "befitting my age". Anyone interested?

Some surprises are no surprises at all. Like Vikram Bhatt joining sweetheart Amisha Patel on her Roman holiday yesterday.
It didn't surprise us, and we bet it didn't surprise Amisha – she'd told us before she left that she was sorta expecting Vikram to show up on her birthday in Rome.
Well surprise or not, we think it was a nice gesture! How many boyfriends do you know who fly across the globe to be with their gals.
Every now and then, an actress gets to do a film, which allows her to break away from her image. For Sameera Reddy, that film might be Buddhadev Dasgupta's next. Sam is very excited about her role, "I play a Kathak dancer, who comes to Kolkata to realise her dreams. I know Kathak, as I have been learning under Veeru Krishnan for the last six years, so it was great that I was offered this role.
It feels good to be repeated in Buddhada's film as he's one of the most highly acclaimed directors today. I have learnt a lot from him in Kaalpurush and hope to learn a lot more." The as-yet-untitled film, a bilingual (Bengali and Hindi), is being produced by BAG Films.
Aamir Khan had left his worldly worries behind, as he stepped in for a special screening of Phir Hera Pheri. He called producer Feroz Nadiad-wala and requested to have a special trial for his family and friends. Now as our knowledge goes, he had never been fond of the bullet brothers Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty kind of cinema.
So what beckoned him to watch this comic caper? Apparently, it's good ol' Paresh Rawal's comic timing that he wanted to witness. As for reactions, he was a tad too diplomatic about it except for the occasional peals of laughter that he broke into. Looks like the threesome has left him impressed this time around.
| On the right track: Jaya Bachchan |
We spotted Jaya Bachchan in a pink tracksuit at the Marriott. Obviously, like her hubby Amitabh Bachchan, she looked in the pink of health — after a workout, we assume.
We know the Big B's fetish for fitness (he's up at the crack of dawn working out). Seems like Madam B, too, has imbibed this healthy practice. And yesterday afternoon she was at the hotel's coffee shop with Tina Ambani for gupshup and a bite! Well, well.
| Stop kidding me: Karan Wahi |
Remix's Ranvir stepped out of his teenage years yesterday. Karan Wahi celebrated his birthday with his gang after the shoot of his show. "It feels good to turn 20. I hope people finally stop calling me a bachcha or a kid," he says.
What plans does he having for the coming year? "I am chilling out since the show will end shortly. It's sad news, but one has to move on in life. I would love to do some more commercials, and of course, doing a Bollywood film would be like a dream come true." You may be a dreamer, Mr Wahi, but you're not the only one.
