Lavanya- Kushi Friendship laced with resentment?

We know that lavanya considers Kushi as her only true friend. Lavanya depends on Kushi in every small detail of her life. We know that La adores Kushi and seeks her company at all times. She gets depressed at the very thought of Kushi not being beside her, She constanly looks for her and asks her opinion. She went to the extent of saying she won't be able to marry ASR without Kushi by her side.

La is latched to Kushi like a leech.

Fine with it. So What about Kushi then? Does she consider Lavanya in the same sphere of friendship? What does Kushi has in return for the feelings expressed by lavanya?

Although Kushi respects lavanya I constatly gets the feeling she does not feel equal with her as she would feel with... for example Payal. That is of no surprise to be honest as La is definitely from a higher class, different educational background, different society and different economical background.

But knowing Kushi we know that all those materielistic worldly things don't hold much value in her. So whats stopping kushi from being in an intimate, close friendhsip with la?

Is it the fact hidden inside her, in a dark corner of her heart that La is the rival woman? Although Kushi has not disclosed it in any of her actions, does her slight detachment from La has anything to do with a certain resentment she has due to the fact La is commited to HER OWN lover???

what do you guys think? Kushi is a complex charater just like ASR. She's very good at hiding her feelings. Do you think burried inside Kushi has some resentment towars La-ASR relationship?

you are right...kushi doesn't consider la as her close friend...think she wishes to be a employee for raizadas and nothing more...

well..thats an interesting thought..but you know what caught my eye- khushi is a character as complex as ASR..i say BRING IT ON!!..more angst,more complexities..a more human and real side to the characters..i would be all for it!!

but IMO..khushi's feelings for lavanya arent as apparent because she does not need her(at all)..while currently..lavanya depends on khushi for like everything..so she is shown as more loving..and clingy..if i may say so.

Wow can I just say I've never even thought this so thanks for bringing this discussion up!

I think Khushi respects Lavanya and has come to accept and like her quirks, but at the end of the day there is a difference in social status and Lavanya will never be able to understand Khushi's world.

Bear in mind, Khushi has not had the best impression from her since she has known her...I think when she started working in RM, she wanted to keep the 'friendship' strictly professional.

I don't think Khushi resents Lavanya or see's her as her rival. It's more Khushi feeling guilty for thinking of Arnav in a romantic way.

In my head if you were to place these characters in an American high school show, Lavanya would be head cheerleader with Arnav as the broody jock and Khushi as a awkward, clumsy, happy-go-lucky type of gal. She knows she will never be as cool or pretty as Lavanya and she knows the super cool Arnav who is the desire of many girls including Lavanya will ever be hers.

I'm going slightly off tangent there so I best stop rambling 😆

Good post..👍🏼.you raise some very valid points. Khushi-La relationship is as straightforward as a jalebi😊...there are many layers to it. You bet, in her private moments, away from everyone and only in front of Devi Mayya, Khushi resents La...and her fate...but knowing that she does not have any future with Arnav, she has given up all hopes of happiness for herself and has thrown herself wholeheartedly behind the idea of getting La hitched with Arnav. Khushi is shown to be a genuine, soft-hearted girl and she does care for La...

As for La, the creatives of the show have been very one-dimensional with her...they have not fleshed out her character properly...during the office part of the show, she was shown to be a nasty, ill-tempered, supercilious, rude...you know what...and then after the transformation, she ahd a complete 180 degree turn and became Khushi's bff...sweetness personified. So it is still difficult for me to decide whether her love for Khushi is just selfishness or is there some genuiness to it...but I will give her benefit of the doubt.

i don't know..i never thought of it in that way..

but now that i put my head in to it...i don't think Khushi has any sort of resentment for La..sure she gets hurt when she sees La kissing or hugging Arnav..but she doesn't feel jealous of La..she feels guilty and utterly confused by the feelings she gets at that time..
u know Khushi, though she is 18 years old is the simple small town girl, she still hasn't figured it all out for even herself,..

and as for her not considering La as her jiji, come on it is natural! u'll never give the place of a sibling(it is a different case if u don't have a sis in reality and a friend/s fill that place anyway) to a friend unless u have known that friend for a very long time!!
also the main reason khushi doesn't burden La with her problems is cz Khushi understands that La will not understand any of it..La's world is so different from hers and sometimes khushi is baffled by it herself..so she knows La will never get what she says..anyway from where Khushi is coming from, her world back at home is a place filled with gloom n sadness, wherein La's world with the raizada's is filled with colours and joy..khushi will not spoil it for them..she keeps her troubles to herself...i mean now a days she doesn't even unburden herself to even her jij..so wt abt La...

but honeslty i adore the relationship b/w the 2 girls..it is so sweet and simple..i'd hate to see it get ruined... i'll always remember the scene where they were both jumping on the bed,having a pillow fight and dancing to a hindi song when ASR walks in on them..

My thoughts exactly...how can she change so much...

...if you look at it she never even visited Kushi's dad even once...even the mighty ASR went to the hospital...

For Kushi ...its just a professional relationship...i feel...and for La...we just have to wait and watch...

Nice post topic.

I think LA is self-centered but considers Khushi her go to person for whatever she wants e.g. LA tells Anjali if Khushi is not there I don't think I can get married to ASR and I want her with me until marraige and so then Khushi can disappear!

LA is friendly with Khushi - dressed her up in bridal wear before trying her dresses, teases her about her fiance and his gifts as she is still waiting to get all this affection showered on her from Arnav!

I think LA-Khushi might remain friendly acquaintances - I would like to see what LA will do for Khushi that will show me there is a 2-way friendship not just a superficial friendship!
