12 Mastiii 4 Jokes So DISASTROUS You Will Wonder Who Approved Them

I made a special effort watching and noting down some of the jokes the writers believed were hilarious enough to leave in the final cut. The result is obvious - TRAINWRECK!

There are films that spark debate and there are films that test the limits of your patience. Mastiii 4 belongs in the second category without any hesitation. The exaggerated promises the makers floated before release always felt a little suspicious, and the moment the film landed in theatres that suspicion was confirmed. You can read our review for the full picture, but even a basic glimpse at the film tells you everything you need to know.

Beyond the chaotic script and the truly absurd storyline, the humor is where Mastiii 4 collapses completely. The writing feels like the writers sat down to produce jokes but ended up creating lines that are far funnier as ideas of jokes than the jokes themselves.

I pointed out in my review that Milap Zaveri did keep one promise. Mastiii 4 is not as vulgar as the earlier films in the series. That is true and he deserves credit for holding back on crassness. The surprise is that this restraint comes at the cost of a barrage of flat, childish and painfully dim dialogues that are presented as punchlines.

There are times when films are filled with lines that are so terrible that they loop back to being entertaining. The kind of guilty pleasures that make you laugh because of how ridiculous they are. Mastiii 4 does not even reach that level. It sits comfortably in the territory of one bad line after another, each one worse than the previous one, and it never recovers from this spiral.

I made a special effort while watching the film. I wrote down some of the jokes the writers believed were hilarious enough to leave in the final cut. The result is obvious. They are not funny. Not even by accident. What they do manage to do is leave you wondering what the writers were thinking when they approved them.

Cringe with rhyming words as jokes fest begins!

Before anyone assumes the first joke in question hints at something adult or suggestive about having too many men in one house, it does not. The rhyme scheme is so basic and so poorly thought through that even Riteish Deshmukh, who has excellent comic timing otherwise, cannot salvage it or turn it into something mildly amusing.

As I said, cringe rhyming fest has begun

To show how farcical Arshad Warsi’s character is meant to be, the trio of Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi are repeatedly sent into rhyming dialogue territory. Not just a few jokes but a full cascade of rhyming lines that make you wonder who talks like this even in a fictional comedy. The standout in the worst possible way is the joke where the rhyme is not even a rhyme. It is simply the same word repeated in two different contexts. In the Mastiii 4 universe that counts as clever writing. In the real world it lands with a thud.

Not cringe rhyme fest but surely just plain weird

One might think there is a deeper commentary aimed at Milap Zaveri through one of the jokes, but it is actually not meant to be meta at all. It might seem chuckleworthy on paper because the familiar phrasing of rozi roti is swapped with rosy roti. But when Riteish Deshmukh’s Amar delivers it to Natalia Janoszek’s character, the line collapses instantly. The timing is off and the wordplay is too flimsy to land.

Even a brand like Manforce could raise a complaint about the way their name is stuffed into a joke that barely qualifies as a joke. The layering is lost, the buildup is clueless, and the payoff is a whisper. The attempt at clever underplay turns into complete underwhelm instead.

Sorry, not sorry, Arshad Warsi

One of the few times a follow up line creates a laugh is when Arshad Warsi reacts to a particularly terrible joke and says that it was not even that bad. A few lines later there is another callback that is framed as a reference to his iconic character Circuit. The reactions and the meta twitches are mildly amusing. The joke that leads to them is still a disaster. To rhyme something with WARSI the writers force in a random line about a bhola bhala PARSI. It feels exactly like what you say when someone insists you rhyme something quickly and you blurt the first word that pops into your head.

Ageism is not even the worst thing here

Then comes one of the strangest gags in the entire film. The kind that makes you shift in your seat because of how awkward it is. An elderly woman becomes the centre of a bizarre sequence and her fake dentures somehow find their way into Vivek Oberoi’s mouth. The line he delivers later tries to justify the gag but only heightens the discomfort. The moment is weird, unnecessary and leaves you wondering how this passed any kind of humor check.

Going Bangkok and still won't find this funny!

The film then takes a trip back to the early 2010s, or maybe even earlier, because that is exactly the era when the joke would still not have been funny. A ladyboy pretending to be a massage therapist to trick Aftab is used as a gag. The rhyme of Thai and Guy is meant to trigger laughter but comes across as something you would laugh at when you were nine years old. Watching it now is pure secondhand embarrassment.

Another moment that tries to pass itself off as humor revolves around Vivek Oberoi’s character Meet and his very possessive wife Anchal. The line he delivers to describe her possessiveness is not a joke in any sense. It sounds like that one friend at a party who believes they are witty and tries to throw in a one liner that is met with silence. It is a tonal dip that goes from awkward to unnecessary.

If you want brainrot, at least give us genius brainrot. The kind Farah Khan gave us in Om Shanti Om. Imagine pitching the famous Om versus tiger scene on paper. It sounds ridiculous. But the execution turned it into comic gold because the absurdity was purposeful. Shah Rukh Khan fighting a soft toy tiger while saying naadi pussy worked because everything around it was designed for controlled chaos. Mastiii 4 attempts something similar with one of its jokes but the result is crass, cringe and entirely without charm.

I can't even...

Laziness peaks in the Mughal e Azam, shouhar e Azam and Babar Azam joke. It feels like someone asked a child to list rhyming words and the child complied with total sincerity. bat cat rat and then suddenly these three random references. It feels mechanical and rushed, almost like the writers were racing to fill space rather than write something coherent.

Tusshar Kapoor arrives mid film as a supposedly intimidating villain with a Russian flavor with a Bhojpuri. His character’s unique trait is that he adds wa to the end of every line he speaks. This is meant to make him sound menacing. It ends up making him sound confused. Considering his past filmography, which includes titles known for questionable humor, this still manages to be one of his weakest outings.

Just when you think the worst has passed, the film saves its final disaster for the end. There is a sequence where Vivek Oberoi reclines on a seat. That is all the setup the writers need to build a joke about declining and then quickly turning it into a line about his little guy getting inclined. It feels indulgent in the worst way and leaves the entire scene in shambles.

Mastiii 4 never finds its footing. It never builds a rhythm. The film is overflowing with bad lines, worse jokes and the kind of writing that makes you wonder if anyone paused to reconsider their choices. Until then you can at least share this curated list of elite jokes and lines with your friends. They will judge you for it, but the shared misery may create some accidental fun.

TL;DR

Mastiii 4 arrived with the promise of harmless madness but ended up delivering a comedy meltdown of epic proportions. The film throws one bizarre line after another, each one somehow worse than the last. I noted twelve of the most unbelievable jokes that actually made it to the final cut, and trust me, they are wild in ways you cannot imagine.
