| As Baani of Kasamh Se, Prachi Desai has transformed from a mere 17-year-old to the darling of soap addicts. Everyone knows Bani, but Yasmeen Faruqi gets to know what Prachi is all about. What was life like before Kasamh Se? I was in my 12th grade in Pune. I was always interested in acting since childhood so I got into an 18 day modelling workshop. There I was told about Balaji auditioning for a show. I went for it and after a week, I got a call for this role. I couldn't believe my luck So studies take a backseat? Well, I couldn't give my exams this year because of the show but I plan to complete my studies very soon. I do miss going to college though. But thankfully, my friends haven't changed and don't treat me like a star. Kasamh Se is a family drama and you play a married lady. At such a young age, was it difficult? Yes, it was a little difficult getting into those saris, wearing a mangalsutra and looking like a woman. But then, I reasoned that this attire is giving me my success, so why not? In fact when people see me in my normal attire, they feel I look like a kid. How does it feel to be playing wife to a man who is twice your age? On the sets, Ram who plays my husband in the show treats me like a kid too. We share a very funny relationship. I am like a child who is up to naughty antics. In fact, being the youngest, I am treated like a kid. In real life, would you fall for an older man? I don't think so. What do you think is so special about Bani that has made her so popular? I guess it's her silence that speaks volumes. In very trying times too, she maintains her silence and lets her actions speak. That's her strength. So how has the show changed you? Well, it has got me immense popularity. When I go out, people recognise me and come to me for autographs. It's a great feeling. Who are your ideals? I simply love Priety Zinta and Aamna Sharif. I used to watch Aamna's show since my school days. And I had the opportunity of meeting her on sets when we were shooting on the same premises. She knows I am a big fan of hers and she keeps encouraging me to give my best. |
