For me the main difference between love and desire is freedom. Desires cage your heart, it demands specifics! There must be X and Y or THE 'love' will abandon Z!

Love is freeing, it asks for nothing in return. It only seeks your beloved's happiness. It binds you to the earth of a heart yet frees you from the chains of worldly wants!

Yes, this is a forum made up of so many minds that debate is inevitable. It is only natural to promote those beliefs that you hold. However just like all walks of life, career, politics and even love I have never believed that the ends justifies the means. Some acts are repugnant no matter what your intentions. So if you believe that your favourite is the best, then there are good ways to propagate that and there are bad, or rude, repulsive and quite demeaning ways too. When I say demeaning, I do not mean to the actor but rather the person from which it sprang. For no matter how much dirt they try to throw, beauty is a light to which it can not stick.

abt obsessions i guess sometimes its ppl's highly expressed feelings which they do share and feel for their fav and i guess i respect all's love for their favs whether it would be bollywood actors or tellywood actors u can see obsession of any big mega stars 's fan having we feel so amazed and seriously respect their love they do sometimes diff things for their fav but its only their love for them ( i rem u shared ur one experience and it touched my heart ❤️)for me obsession is just extreme level of love for anything and anyone some can express and some can't thats only difference

I agree, passion is something that is life affirming and much preferable to nonchalance or apathetic sentiments about this world and the people upon it.

we love them share our love thats what we want that our positive vibes and love will reach to them our blessing and wishes reach to them thats all abt it ,love is something beyond all this ,its always joy and pleasure in giving love without expectation 😳 Aashi, beautifully written. Who is the best?

you know as human we are inclined to want from our hearts rather than minds, whenever we see something that catches our attention we desperately want to be better than the rest. Its like when your a child, you may have the best toy in the world but when a friend of yours walks in with another one, you forget about your own. Competition to be better and best has been engraved into us from our younger days but as we grow up we learn to differienciate between healthy competition and the other competition, No one wants to be medicore, whether its in their life, love, or favorites whatever it maybe, you want to be the best.

Wonderful take on this issue. It is always refreshing to listen to those who think outside the box rather than those that try to make themselves comfortable in cramped conditions.

I agree with your toy analogy, in that we always assume that the best is what we have known it to be regardless of its veracity. It reminds me of a intelligence question, what was the highest mountain in the world before Mount Everest was discovered? The answer is Mount Everest, 😳 for even if people were unaware of its existence it remains the same.

However I have always been weary of competition, maybe because deep down I understood my chances of winning to be very slim😳 nonetheless for whatever reason, I strove only ever against my own self. In your toy analogy, I would seek to better my experience than better the things that I have. My eyes would gravitate towards the other person, that light that they might bring into my life over what they hold in their hand. For in truth, even if you possessed all the best things of this world your ability to derive pleasure from them depends upon the state of your heart. As Elizabeth Bennett states, "If you were to give me forty such men, I never could be so happy as you. Till I have your disposition, your goodness, I never can have your happiness."

I guess my attitude stems from an antidote to competition that has been instilled in me AND that is gratefulness. I am grateful for whatever I have, despite knowing or not knowing whether it is the best or not.

Do not misunderstand me, I am not saying that my way is the best way 😳 or the only way, but rather a way that suits me best. I completely understand, comprehend and appreciate the benefits of competition within other people's lives. My only grumble in regards the competition that I find at IF, is in its derogatory form. That if you are not the best that there is almost no validity to your existence. As they say, if only the birds with the sweetest voices sang, the forests would be a lonely place.

the believe of who is the best? rather than we all have greatness within, i think starts with our attitude, and its takes alot to form an opinion thats of hatred because i have always known love is easy but its hatred that takes time and will.No one wants their favorites to be average, we want them to excel and move forward but its not easy to ignore when the a certain actor/actress excels rather than our favorites. Its all on our attitude, if we want to change the world we have to change ourselves first, as they bhoond bhoond se hi darya banta hai. But no one is really willing to change, we wish to be the best in everything we are related with, its in our natures. I guess with age comes maturity and the will to actually see beyond just what you want to see.

But your right we should not be questioning who is the best, rather be happy for our favorites.

I don't know if I am right, I just wished to showcase another way to view things, to live life.

I agree we are each caged or even freed by our own definitions of competition, love and life. Perhaps it suits some to compete, pushing them ever forwards in all areas of their lives, to quote Bruce Lee,

"If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them."

To come full circle, life will either affirm or contradict what we hold dear, from our opinions to the value or worth of our possessions. Regardless at the root is that desire to seek life, be passionate about something, anything wholesome that stirs it, because one of the biggest tragedies of the modern age is the plague of apathy so that one is bored of life.
