What a shame for a husband of a being! He has taken it to heart and soul that Lovely is the root cause of all the mess (none!) at home, and if the children are cosying up to her cuz she understands their happiness, she's scorned upon..espcially that "I-Control-Thee" freak of a mother-in-law...and the rest of the bahus, even though they want their kids' happiness, would'nt speak up & ask Lovely to stay quite and not to stir an argument...

I wish Lovely totally stops speaking with Kartik, and even ignores him, he deserves this and could go and cry on his mommy's lap!

Great post Gauri! It was wonderful to see Lovely stand up to Karthik today and honestly tell him how dysfunctional his childhood has been -- seemingly there was no space for fun and games, movies and songs, cartoons -- important things that help us develop our imagination and offer avenues to express ourselves, think and analyze the broader world around us and allow us much needed entertainment and relaxation! :) It made me think about how important it is to know someone's family and childhood/growing up years to understand the person they have become. It is huge.

Kudos to Lovely for allowing the children to confide in her and feel like they have an ally and friend in her! It seems it is the first time in their young lives that they have seen anyone stand up for them! Yeah!:) Looking forward to tomorrow's episode, it is the first big showdown between Maasa and Lovely and I am curious what turn that is going to take. I wonder if Ammasa might just stop by or something like that? I can't see anyone in that house mediating that argument! Should be interesting.

I agree, I think that is why this serial is actually touching a nerve. Even though a lot of it seems too ridiculous and contrived (like Maasa getting mad over the children singing a popular children's song), it is actually depicting real life issues. Human beings are a product of their childhoods and their environments, and their past is (in general) a good guage of what you might expect in the future. Of course we change and evolve, but I think there is a lot that is ingrained, consciously and unconsciously, that we take into our futures. I think Karthik is acting very much as one would expect him to act, given his upbringing. Lovely is most definitely challenging him to look outside his comfort zone which is great!

That made me laugh...yes, ( except for perhaps Babusa?), they ALL seem rather constipated from all those rules and regulations, Lovely is just the right thing for them :)...

I agree...except for BabuSa..cuz he was'nt brought up with a hitler set of rules and regulations...Have you guys noticed his mother is kinda chilled out & easy going!!

In all fairness, Kartik was conned into the marriage by Lovely. He was infatuated by Lovely as something unattainable and out of the ordinary for him. Marrying Lovely to him can be taken to be similar to a young boy wanting to marry Aishwarya Rai or a young girl pining for Salman Khan.

His reality was always Maasa and he made it clear to Lovely that he would get married to a girl of his mother's choice and expects his wife to be a true copy of his mother. It was Lovely who kind of forced his hand and brought him to the point where he had to marry her. He could've dumped her at the temple and said that now your make-believe is over and let's forget all this and get on with our individual lives. He and Maasa accepted her and brought her home. It is not unreasonable therefore for them to expect Lovely to fit in with the family.

All things apart Kartik is not playing control games with Lovely. Lovely started the control games before the marriage even and Kartik is willy-nilly trying to come to terms with the hand that fate and Lovely have dealt him. He is unwilingly put in a false position in front of his family as someone who eloped and got married. He is not exposing Lovely in front of his family for that is he? He was his mother's pet and he is now her biggest disappointment, but he is living with that silently isn't he?

Agreed that Maasa is going overboard and going out of her way to harass Lovely. Agreed that Kartik is an unsupportive husband. But Lovely made her own bed and must lie in it. I appreciate Lovely for what she is trying to do in this family and for trying to make the best of the situation, but I certainly do not approve of the way she got married.
