I think she's keeping her distance because even though she has won his respect, she doesn't know she has his love. (He hasn't said it yet)

She must still think that he loves Piya (eugh! ), especially after that night when he was babbling about how much he loves her!

By the time he admits it, there will be a new panga (probably Rano running off, or Piya having some problem)

Its also possible that Bani feels as though she is only there for a limited amount of time, and that once Massi is out of the picture, she has to leave anyway.

Jai is being nice, but the awkward guiltiness doesn't show his love. he hasn't announced that he is cancelling the talaak either.
