Chapter 18

Gulaal woke up next morning she felt blissful she yawned and came outside her balcony and saw her jeep was parked outside

She looked at the jeep and came outside the guard said "madam aaj phr mechanic aakar yeh jeep k keys de gaya tha"

Madam aapki "jeep roz roz kharab ho jaati hai aap dusare jeep kyu nahi le leti"

She looked at the jeep and said "nahi mujhe yahi pasand hai"

And she took the keys opened the door and saw a white rose and heart shaped choclate boxes kept for her

She took the white rose and choclate boxes there was a note present inside gulaal opened it and it was written

"gulaal kal ka din meri liye sabse special tha…thanks mere zindagi k kuch pal ko itna haseen banana k liye"

And the writing disaapeared within few minutes leaving the note blank

Gulaal smiled and said to herself "thanks to u too"

She got ready for the office and went to work in the light mood gulaal sat in her chair and took out her white rose and placed it on her desk

She opened the delhi orphanage site in her laptop and gathered the detailed information….the orphanage was build by him 5 years ago … poor ,destitute ,…abandoned children street children were given the opportunity to began their new life once again…they were provided with the basic amenties,,, quality education and other activites… she read the testimonial…many students were selected in medical engineering ca/cs course….once children of criminal were now leading a respectful life

He had even opened the old age home to provide the shelter to the elders …..Becoz of his good deeds kesar was respected in underworld many criminal supported him…and coz of it noone really co-operated with CID inspite of knowing him personally…. they plainly refuse to disclose any information….becoz of his image big gangster like durgesh and kaali didnt lay hand on him.

Gulaal read the site and her eyes shone with proudnes…..

The constable entered her room and said revji aapko bula rahe hain

Gulaal got up and went inside the cabin

Revji was waiting for her

Gulaal asked "ji sir aapne bulaya"

Revji asked "gulaal tumhara kaam kaise chal raha hai"

Gulaal said "badhiya chal raha hai"

Revji "gulaal tumne abhi tak jitney bhi case assist kiye hai usme kafi acha kaam kiya hai…ab yeh tulip jewelers ka case mein tumhe akele handle karne deta hun"

Gulaal asked "thanks sir"

Revji "mujhe tum par poora bharosa hai tum meri sabse ache officer ban rahi ho….mujhe pata hai tum mujhe nirash nahi karogi"

Gulaal looked at him and smiled and said "nahi sir...mein nahi karungi"

Gulaal came out of the cabin with heavy heart though she was happy that her father praised her and entrusted her but her heart sanked with fear…she was bound to fulfill her duty and her heart stood for kesar…. …she entered her cabin and sat on her chair swept into her own thoughts…

She thought for a sec and then touched her white flower gently and put it it back in the drawer

And she called the constable and asked "Delhi mein jitney bhi dealers hai aur intermediators jo chori k maal kharredete aur bachete hai unki file chahiye"

In the meantime kaali's gangmember informed kaali about gulaal and kesar

Kaali was amused he asked "tujhe pakka pata hai tune unhi dekha tha

Gangmember said "bhai pakka to nahi kah sakta par kal raat ko gaadi kesar ki hi thi aur woo ladki gulaal jaise lag rahi thi…mein peecha karta par jab tak gadi ghuma kar laata woo log haath se nikal gaaye"

Kaali said "yeh to sach mein kamaal k khabar police aur chor mein kafi dosti lagti hai….gulaal k peecha karo….dekhe aakhir mazaara kya hai"

Whole day she read about the dealers and intermediators of Delhi…..while reading one name saddam drew her attention….he ran a spice business in old Delhi….and use to smuggle arms gold artifacts… three criminal cases were registered against him

CID suspected him to be intermediator in the major theft but there was no evidence against him….

Gulaal was stuck in the name she remembered she had seen "maddas" written in kesar's diary wen she searched his house…she wrote the letter In backward direction and saw the name saddam"

She said to her" yeh maddas saddam ho bhi sakta hai aur nahi bhi…andhere mein teer chalna hoga"

She was about to call a constable but then she thought "kesar bahoot powerful hai…usne apne aap ko bachne k liye minister k secretary bribe kar diya to phir CID k logo ko bhi shamil kar sakta hai…..phir woo bina kisi darr k is office mein bhi aa gaaya..koi naa koi to hai to isme shamil hoga…abhi kissi par bharosa nahi kiya jaa sakta mujhe akele hi investigation karni hogi"

And she thought to carry her investigation all alone

10: 30Night old delhi

saddam was working in his shop he closed the shop and then went in his gowdown situated nearby he switched on the light to take out some spices for his shop and saw gulaal was sitting there

saddam was shocked he asked "kaun hai"

gulaal took out her identity card and showed to him

his face turned pale…

he said "madam aap welcomeji par takleef kyu ki"

and he called his servant for tea and snacks

gulaal smiled and said "kya kare saddam bhai aap logo k wajah se hum logo ko kanha aaram milta hai"

while gulaal was talking to saddam kaali's gangmember were spying on her…they stood in their car outside saddam's gowdown….they called kaali and said to him" bhai woo gulaal saddam k gowdown mein aayi hui hai

kaali said "wanhi ruk mein aata hun"

and she continued "waise aapka gowdown dekha hai kafi badhiya laaga…..snake leather ko masalo (spices) k daam (rate )mein bech rahe hai kya baat hai" gulaal was pointing out the fact that she saw snake leather hidden inside the sack of spices

saddam was dumbfounded he blurbed madam "woo saanp (snake) hai yunhi bhatakte bhatakte gowdown mein aa gaaye honge mar gaye ab mein kya karu kal hi sab maal ko bahar phekwa dunga kasam se"

gulaal replied "baatein bahoot achi kar lete ho saddam bhai acha laga aapse baat karke soch rahi hun woo aapke baaki teeno case mein apne under mein le len hume bhi todhi mehmaan nawaazi ka mauka dijyeye…aaram se beith kar gupshup karenge"

saddam said fearfully "madam meine aapka kya bigada hai"

gulaal "bigada kuch nahi hai bana sakte ho…."

She asked "kesar ko jaante ho"

Saddam shook his head in refusal "nahi madam"

She inquired "phir to tulip jewelers k bare mein bhi pata nahi hoga

Saddam said "nahi madam"

She said "koi baat nahi bas ek baar humare mehmaan ban jaaiye sab kuch pata chal jaayega…aur phir.jaldi kisi hai aap aaram se humare mehmaan banker rahiyega hum jaldi nahi chodenge…."and she took out the handcuff

Saddam said madam yeh

Gulaal said "kal tak ka mauka deti hun saddam bhai kesar k bare mein jo jaante ho bata do warna kal tumhare gowdown mein crocodile ur lion (leather) kanha se bhatak kar aa gaaye iska jawab tayyar rakhna"

And she ordered her driver to pick up the sample and click the pics of the gowdown and she took necessary documents with her

After she left saddam sank in the chair in fear he rubbed the sweat from his forehead and said to himself "yeh mein kaise phass gaya aur yanha raid honewaali hai iski information mujhe kisi ne kyu nahi di…kesar ko baata dun..nahi woo madam nazar rakhi hongi kya karu"

And kaali entered his premises and sat there forcefully

Saddam looked at him and asked "bhai aap yanha kaise"

Kaali asked "woo sab chod yeh sab kya chakkar hai yeh inspector yanha kyu aayi thi"

Saddam explained "whole situation to kaali and said bhai kesar k liye aayi thi ab mein kya karu"

Kaali laughed "arey hum to soch rahe the donno mein kaafi dosti par yeh to dushman nikale…socha tha alag alag inse nipatunga….par ab dono dushman ko thikane lagana ka sahi mauka haath laga hai"

Kaali looked at saddam and said "kesar k bare mein usko sab bata do"

Saddam said "par bhai kesar mujhe nahi chodega"

Kaali said "jaan hai to jahan hai saddam bhai "

And he asked one of his gangster to stay with saddam and said "agar saddam gulaal ko kesar k bare mein naa bataye to goli se maar dena thek hai"

Saddam looked at the sharpshooter who pointed gun at him….saddam was frightened…he had no option but to co-operate with gulaal….he dialled gulaal's number and said "madam mein saddam mein kesar k bare mein batane k liye tayyar hun"

Gulal smiled and ended the call

She said to herself "arey itni jaldi baata diya mujhe laga thoda waqt aur lagega"

And then looking at he cushion toy she said "phass gaye bache ab nahi bachoge"

Though somewhere ih her heart she felt bad
