I HAVE NO DIFFERENCES WITH EKTA

Small screen heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput on why hes quitting his show, his marriage plans and his bond with Ekta Kapoor

Amrita Mulchandani

Hes been an assistant director with Mohit Suri (for Raaz),danced with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a song sequence in Taal and then moved on to do telly shows, debuting in Ekta Kapoors Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil,following it with a leading role in Pavitra Rishta and two dance reality shows,Jhalak Dikhla Ja 2 and Zara Nach Ke Dikha 2.Sushants stint on his prime time show comes to an end in a few days as the tubes prince charming moves on to newer things.

PARTING NOTE

I am quitting the show, but Id like to say that there are no professional differences between the production house and me.The problem is with me.I feel that Manavs role is not as challenging as it used to be earlier and I had to switch over to something else.If I am not learning something from my work, then its like my professional death. This show has given me everything that an actor aspires for money, fame and recognition, but my priority is not just to add zeros to my cheque.I was stagnating as an actor and I had to move on.I have a lot of offers, but now I want to work for my creative satisfaction. My fuel to live is to try doing different things.

BONDING WITH EKTA

I am thankful to Ekta Kapoor for giving me such a big platform on TV.I am extremely obliged to her. There were a 1,000 other guys who could have portrayed the role better than me and would have commanded less salary. However,I am glad she gave me a chance.I owe a lot to her.I dont know where I will be in the near future, but Ill always be thankful to Ekta.

BEHIND THE CAMERA

Cinematography is my passion.I want to tell a lot of stories,so I can make fun movies
and express myself.I had plans to go to New York and learn a short film-making course, but due to my daily soap it didnt happen.I am trying to get into Oxford University and learn film making.

LOOKING AHEAD

I am taking a break for sometime.Acting is my life.I enjoy performing in front of the camera,so I want to work on improving myself.I am also learning different dance forms.I have started a theatre group.I am concentrating on martial arts too.I dont know what will click, but the process of learning must always continue.I dont differentiate between the big and small screen,so whenever I will be satisfied with my progress,Ill return on screen.People say that TV actors cant make it to Bollywood but according to me,TV actors are more efficient.

NOT WITHOUT MY LOVE

It isnt true that I only want to work with Ankita.I dont mix my personal and professional life.I dont stop her from doing anything and nor does she.We do take each others opinions but at the end the decision to work/not work in a show is ours.We are mature individuals and take our own professional decisions.

MARRIAGE ON THE CARDS

We are happy living in.Marriage is not something we are thinking about now,but it will happen eventually. We Rajputs are men of honour. So if I have made a commitment to someone I will keep my promise.Right now,the word marriage makes me nervous.

Best of luck Sushant.A multi talented guy like him will surely b very successful. I agree 100% with him. Why continue with a work which is not giving him the professional satisfaction that he is looking for. I think he should b congratulated for being brave enough to say enough to a crap show😆

I don't blame him at all, why stay in a role that no longer interests you? Sushant likes a challenge and I am sure he will continue to be a success in anything he does. All the best Sushant!

LOL no you are not alone, I noticed it too. It pops out at you during the interview. I think it was speculated here that they were living in but no one knew for sure, as long as they're happy. I like when the title said no without my love, I think Ankita is supportive of Sushant wanting to pursue his dreams. I just wonder how long Ankita will stay with the show, will she soon get bored like Sushant and want something more challenging? I guess it all depends on what the show decides to do. I'm glad Sushant is leaving on good terms with the production house, looks like he is open to doing another show down the road

But Mandy isn't Sushant himself saying it? I mean it is the part of his quote itself in this article 🤔 or yeah it could be a bummer on TOI part also. 😆
But if its true then Haila! It looks like Ankita finally accepted Sushant's "Lets have a Live-in relationship" offer, that he once proposed to her in one of the SBS segments...and did not tell him to "Bhaad mein jao" this time.. 🤣

Thanks for sharing 😛

Loved his answers as usual 😳 Love ambitious guy who don't just do stuff for money and Sushant fits the description to a tee 😳 Hats off to Sushant for saying playing Manav is professional death for him now 👍🏼 So proud and happy for him Hope and pray his dreams would be fulfilled and he will be blessed with success in whatever he chooses to do😛

I really like this line "We Rajputs are men of honour" 😆 I' m sure Ankita finds it comforting too 😉😆

Thanks for the article.
Loved his answers. I agree Sushant, there is nothing challenging in Manav's role now. Good decision of yours to leave the show at this time.
I loved loved loved it that you gave hope to everyone that you will be acting still, and we will again see you onscreen when you return. We'll be waiting!
EDITED:
And I also found it interesting how he is dabbling in so many creative things that interest him- short films, direction course, even theatre! It's nice he has formed a theatre group of his own. Loved his 'Rajputs are men of honour' line.
