Sonam came near her sister and hugged her with tears. "Geet I'm sorry..we set you up and he was too shy to come face to face and then told Adi that he doesn't want to get married to you or anyone for that matter".

Geet stood there motionless trying to take in what her sister was saying. After hurting her last time he asked her to ring him and then changed his mind again. Geet's heart was not a toy that he could play with. She needed to talk to him so she decided to ring him and have it out with him for one last time.

Geet felt numb for days. She loved Maan so much but why was he always acting so indifferent. She decided to give him a call on his mobile. *Hey Babaji Maan phone utta le toh acha hain*

The phone continuously rang and she shut it and called again. She knotted her peachy dupatta and restlessly dialled his number again. The same thing happened again. "I will try once more". She paced her bedroom whilst the phone was getting connected. It rang and after 4 bells Maan picked it up and shouted. "HELLLOOO".

Geet put the phone down and began crying. He spoke in a rude and angry tone. She didn't want to hear no more. She began to sob and Sonam came in. "Di kya hua? Aap pir uss Maan keliye roh rahi hain, di you deserve better". Geet hugged her sweet sister and cried to her hearts content. She knew her love for him was misplaced. He did not love her and was just playing with her feelings. "Di you got so much ahead of you, your going to uni soon and your starting your part time work. Concentrate on that and you watch he will regret it".

Geet wiped her tears and said with a cracked voice. "Sonam his regrets later mean nothing and your right I need to concentrate on my future".

Meanwhile Sonam went into her room and rang Adi. "Listen tell your brother he has hurt my sister enough and not to bother her again. What does he think he is?"

"What happened Sonam tell me?"

"Ask your dear brother. But all I know is my sister is crying because of him. You and me are to blame of giving her hope that some one like Maan will love her. Just please tell him to stay away okay bye".

Geet slowly but surely began taking her pain of Maan's berukhi away from her life. She stopped thinking of love and marriage. Raam refused the rishta od Adnaan Sami as he knew he was friends with Maan, therefore Geet will come across him. He didn't want Geet in pain of facing him again and again.

Geet began her politics and history course and became busy in her studies. She had made lots of friends. Her best friend was Pinky. She was a bubbly girl that exuded a positive atmosphere around Geet. Once they attended their lecture and tutorials both went out for shopping, cinema and food. Life seemed to be looking up for Geet. She still had pain of Maan's treatment but she pushed at the back of her mind. Pinky noticed a slight frown on Geet's face.

"Geet you remembering that Maan again? Kya yaar always making yourself unhappy. Look guys are not worth it so enjoy your single status hmmm?"

Geet nodded and forced a smile. At weekends she joined a department store as a sales assistant. She wanted to make a little bit of money and to break out of the mould of being a mother to her siblings. They were old enough to look after themselves. She finished her late shift and saw Sanjay her brother waiting for her. "Sanjay what you doing here?"

"Dad sent me as it gets dark and I thought its not safe for you to walk alone".

"How sweet! Acha is Nisha and Ranvir home?"

"Haan they are studying believe it or not".

Both brother and sister walked home. "Di I am so proud of you after that Maan saga you have really picked yourself up". Geet nodded thanking his words but was holding back her tears. "No point living in the past hey?" Sanjay nodded his head in the affirmative.

Adi was finding it hard keeping his brother Maan off drugs. "Bhai you really need to sort yourself out man..this is not the life for you".

"Adi I want to marry Geet but I can't I am not worthy of her, look at me I am a junkie".

Adi held Maan in a hug. "Bro keep Geet as your goal and you will see you will be off it in no time".

Maan nodded and agreed to visit the doctor with him to try coming of the stuff.

Sonam was waiting for Geet as she had not seen her properly all week. Geet walked in looking tired and slumped on her bed after changing. "Di how was work?"

"It was okay, the usual Sonam. My manager being a B****."

"Oh okay!" laughed Sonam at Geet's language. She usually was too polite. Sonam's phone rang. She began talking and then began acting strange like she was hiding something. She put the phone down. "Sonam why you gone quiet? Something wrong?"

"Nothing Di just.."

"I know you very well Sonam tell me whassup?"

"Di Maan has been caught with a girl in his bedroom" she said reluctantly.

"what do you mean?"

"An American girl".

"Ah well nothing to do with me what he does and doesn't do". Geet walked off in the bathroom. Her heart broken into pieces. She cried and cried. She put her hand on her mouth and tried to block her wailing. Sonam helplessly left her to mourn her new found pain. She did not know how to help her sister.

That night Geet got a real bad temperature and was shivering all night. Raam looked on and prayed to Babaji for having mercy on his special child.
