CHAPTER-02:-
A woman in black trousers and maroon shirt was waiting at Fort bus stop; it seemed a very
odd action, being as though there was no bus service at this time. She was very appealing
the eye, and looked to be in her mid-thirties. She nervously rubbed her hands to calm down
her anxiety.
As soon as she spotted the black Ford Endeavour speeding in her direction, her face relaxed
and she murmured a silent prayer. The car braked in front of her but the driver kept the
engine running. The passenger window rolled down as she came closer to the car.
"Sorry to keep you waiting Stella," the driver, wearing simple denim jeans, apologized in
his gentle voice.
"Yeah. I am worried about the odd timings, too. You know how it is! But Vyom, sir, the
information you were looking for the last ten months came to me just an hour ago. I wanted
to deliver the information tonight if possible," the lady replied in a breath.
"What is it?" he asked.
Stella handed him a piece of paper with an address scribbled on it. His eyes narrowed
further. He raised his face to look into her eyes properly. Something in his eyes frightened
her.
"How reliable is this information?" the driver asked her in grave voice.
"No loophole. I personally confirmed the address," Stella replied in worried tone.
"How much do you want for this information?" Vyom asked in routine procedure.
"Sir, I have been working with you for the last seven years. I provide information only for
money because I need it badly to keep my husband alive. I know what you have faced in
these last three years. Sir, I am not greedy for money. I do understand feelings. What I did is
priceless, sir," Stella said with sympathy.
She paused to take a breath before adding, "But, if you really want to pay for it then you
can pay the VALUE. A bootlegger is harassing us from last month. He wants to seize our
house to start his own bar. Can you get rid of this problem? I'll be grateful."
"The name?" Vyom asked coldly.
"Philip Martin," Stella whispered.
"Read about him in tomorrow's newspaper. Should I drop you home? It's very late," Vyom
suggested in soft but firm voice.
"No, I don't want anyone to get any trace about our connection. So I better reach by my
Activa. Good night, sir," Stella cooed at him while starting her Activa parked behind the bus
stop.
"Take care." These were the last words Stella heard when Vyom drove by her.
Stella watched pitifully as the SUV disappeared from sight and prayed once again. "Jesus,
take care of him tonight."
Vyom unfolded the paper for fifteenth time. There was an address of some orphanage
organization in Thane. Eyes ablaze with revenge, he hit the accelerator as much as he could
while the music system in his SUV played "This Empty Love" by Innerpartysystem.
The commissioner repeated in his hammering mind again and again, Dannie... you
bas***d... I am coming for you.
His Endeavour vanished in a dark tunnel.
