Chapter 71 – My two dads

Finally realization was dawning at Rishab. He asked him – "Do you love someone?"

Maan just nodded.

Raj asked him then – "She also harbors same feelings for you?"

Maan again nodded.

Rishab gave out an exasperated sigh "To problem kya hai?"

Maan had his head down. He said very softly – "I am talking about Geet"

Rishab's eyes widened as he looked from Maan to Raj. There was pin drop silence for few seconds and thudding of their hearts could be heard across the room.

Raj's mind went into a whirlwind as he thought of all recent events. He asked – "Since when….after…after that episode with Naintara"

Maan shook his head – "No….much before that"

Raj and Rishab stared at him. Maan knew the need for telling it all….he had to…this was his once chance to come clean and he continued – "We confessed just after my accident with school bus…we…we probably always felt like this ever since she came to Mumbai for her surgery"

Silence prevailed. Tears rolled out of Raj's eyes – "What have I done!!!! What kind of a father I am…I was proposing for another girl for a guy who was my daughter's love"

Raj felt guilty like hell. "How could I not understand her pain…I could always feel my children's pain then how could I not foresee this…meri aankhon ke samne sab kuch tha and I….Rishab even suggested it but maine kisi ki nahi suni"

Rishab got up – "Aisa kyon soch raha hai Raj….humein kya pata tha…lekin tune pehle kyon nahin kuch bola…itne din tak chup kyon rahe tum dono"

Maan was still looking down. – "Don't feel bad bade pa…isme aap ki koi galti nahin…halat hi kuch aise ho gaye…pehle we needed some time lekin uske baad jab bhi aapko batane ke bare mein socha kuch na kuch ho gaya and then Naintara's accusations just broke me….Geet…if she would not have stayed with me….pata nahin main kya karta…bas halaat aur kuch nahin"

Silence prevailed once again in the room as Maan stood up and went near Raj. He folded his hands – "Bade Pa"

Raj took his hands in to his and hugged him. "Nahin beta…is se zayda khushi ki baat aur koi nahin ho sakti…cahkar bhi main isse zayda Babaji se nahin maang sakta…meri beti mere hi ghar mein hamesha ke liye khush rahegi….mujhe aur kya cahiye."

Saying this Raj pulled Maan apart and hugged Rishab as well.

Raj and Rishab smiled. Rishab - "Congrats Yaar!!!"

They laughed and included Maan in their hug.

Raj – "Chal…ghar chal…I know you want to meet Geet"

Maan just nodded and walked with them out of KH. His heart had found little peace after confessing everything to his dads. It felt like a burden had lifted from his shoulder. During the drive back, he just hoped to finally hold his life back in his arms….just once…just for few minutes.

Khurana Mansion 10:00 PM

Everyone had just finished dinner. Maan was jumping on his feet with nervousness as his dad had decided to keep mum for some unknown reason.

Finally Chaiyiji retired to bed.

Raj faked a cough to get everybody's attention – "All of you in Geet's room now"

Saying this he walked to Geet's room where she was talking with Annie. She looked surprisingly as her entire family filled inside her bedroom. Suddenly the room looked small.

Geet – "Errr…kya hua…aap sab yahan kaise"

Nisha – "Pata nahin…tere papa ko kuch kehna hai"

Raj – "Yes…guys I have some important news to tell. I have fixed Geet's marriage"

Geet's eyes popped out whereas Maan groaned inwardly at Raj's style of breaking the news – "Yeh log wat lagane wale hain humari"

Juhi – "What!!! Lekin kab aur kis se and how can you do it without Geet's acceptance"

Nisha – "Are nahin yaar….zaroor he is joking"

Raj said sternly – "I am not joking. I have spoken to boy's dad and everything is fixed. Woh log Saturday shagun leke aa rahe hain and Saturday ko hi engagement bhi ho jayegi. Panditji us din shaadi ki date bhi batayenge."

Nisha – "Yeh aap kaisi baatein kar rahe ho…aise kaise rishta fix kar diya…Geet ki haalat dekhi hai aapne aur bina kisi se puch…aise"

Raj stopped his wife's ranting by raising his hand– "Geet is my daughter and I am sure she will marry the guy I have chosen for her"

Till now Geet was watching the ping pong match but now she spoke – "Lekin dad…"

Raj interrupted her – "Geet, I am your father…please trust me"

Rahul – "This is not about trust dad….this is about her life…she has every right to…"

Raj shouted – "Bas….ek shabd nahin"

Rishab could not hold his laughter anymore. Everyone except Raj and Maan looked at him as if he has gone mad. Raj was furious at his friend for bursting the bubble so soon. Maan was just a mix of nerves and looked down waiting for explosion to come.

Juhi sneered – "Aapko badi hasin aa rahi hai…why don't you share the joke with all"

Rishab controlled his laughter – "Raj…why don't you make them meet the boy….I am sure then they can protest more vehemently after knowing all the facts…nahin"

Nisha – "Bas karo aap log…Raj, aap mere saath chaliye…I want to talk to you"

Saying this she grabbed Raj's hand. Raj stopped her – "Rishab is right…pehle ladke se to mil lo"

Raj turned and pushed Maan in front. "Yeh…yeh hai ladka…Dr Maan Singh Khurana…Nobel prize in medicine…famous surgeon and researchist…who has been lying to us in front of our eyes for last five months and romancing our own daughter in our own house"

Geet's cheeks turned red and words if any dissolved inside her throat.

Rishab added – "And you Miss Geet….I thought there were no secrets from your family…so what is this…hmmm"

Everybody was staring at Maan and Geet now, digesting the news they have just received.

Rahul moved towards Geet's bed. He cupped her chin and make her look at him. "Guddan…dad kya keh rahe hain…is it true….are you and Maan going together?"

Tears welled in her eyes and her cheeks turned beetroot red. She just nodded with her head. "I wanted to tell but…."

Rahul – "Kab se?"

Maan came forward – "Rahul…woh"

Rahul stopped him - "Please Maan…mere liye yeh sab Geet ke muh se suna bahut zaroori hai…I am sure you have told your side to dad and bauji. For me, my sister means a lot, so please let her speak now"
