Veteran film producer R.B. Choudary passed away on Tuesday following a car accident in Rajasthan. The incident reportedly took place near Joontha village in the Bewar district. His mortal remains were later brought to Chennai, where family, friends and members of the film industry gathered to pay their final respects. The news has left the South film fraternity in shock.
Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Thalapathy Vijay was among the first to arrive. He offered a floral tribute and was visibly emotional during the visit. In a moment that stood out, Vijay was seen embracing actor Jiiva, Choudary’s son, as he tried to console him. The visuals from the residence quickly surfaced online, reflecting the sombre mood at the gathering.
Filmmaker S A Chandrasekhar also visited the residence and paid his respects to the late producer. Several leading names from the South film industry marked their presence through the day. Mammootty, Dhanush, Suriya and Sivakarthikeyan were seen arriving separately to offer condolences to the family.

R.B. Choudary was the founder of Super Good Films, a banner known for backing several successful Tamil and Telugu films. His work includes titles like Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Poove Unakkaga, Love Today, Samurai and Punnagai Desam. He is survived by his sons Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh, both active in the film industry. His contribution to cinema remains widely recognised. Many colleagues remembered his support for newcomers and consistent backing of content driven cinema.
