Sharpshooter Chetan

Chetan Hansraj
As a kid, Chetan Hansraj was fond of painting. Later, he did a course in 3D animation, but one hobby that stayed with him from an early age was photography.

"I have a Sony Cybershot 5.1 that I carry along with me wherever I go," says the actor. "I like capturing images, people, places, buildings… anything that interests me." How many photos has he taken till date?

"There must be over 1,000. Since the digicam has a memory card, I keep transferring the images to my computer making space for more pictures," he says.

After storing the images, Chetan uses image-altering software to add hues and play around with textures.

"I like giving the photos an edge with the help of my computer," he says. Does he plan to hold an exhibition of his collection? "Ashok Salian is a very dear friend, and he's guided me a lot in photography. I am thinking of taking this up quite seriously," the actor says.

Chetan shares five of his favourite pictures with HiTLIST

I like taking pictures of buildings. This photo was taken in Montreal, and you can see the light covering the structure partially. The building reminded me of the Empire State Building, in New York.
I took this one at Bandstand. This girl came running towards my car and just peeped in. It's very sad to see the state of kids on the streets; my effort was to capture the innocence on her face.
This picture was taken during a chai break in Rishikesh. I had gone there for a car rally and decided to halt for tea. I saw these two men sitting and just chilling. It was the perfect opportunity to capture their state of mind.
This latest picture was taken in Dublin. It was around 5 in the morning, and the sun was coming up. I saw a sea gull sitting on a post, and made it fly off. It was a difficult photo to take, as the bird was in motion. It's one of my favourites.
This is a very sad picture of a dead turtle, washed up on the beach in Goa. Even though devoid of life, the animal seemed calm and relaxed. It's depressing to see the way we treat our wild life, and this photo was taken as a reminder that we need to protect our flora and fauna.
