Not sure how to begin the post on the last episode.
When you're fortunate to witness this beautifully woven love story, it's always difficult to pick that one favourite moment in the entire journey but I think it's safe to say that I got mine yesterday.

It was a simple scene with simple dialogues uttered with the most genuine emotions yet the depth was typically 'Gulaal-Kesar'

Gulaal getting all hairan, pareshan not seeing Kesar on the bed. What I loved about this was that she previously had a dream of Vasant leaving but the next morning, she was straight away concerned with Kesar's absence. She didn't wake up thinking of that dream...! Beautifully done.

Then comes the man who knows her heart more than she does (as rightly claimed by Gulaal). Her soft yet desperate tone asks 'Kaha chala gaya tha tu?' . Kesar being her Kesar instantly questions her...if she gets so worried being apart from him for a few moments, how will she survive a permanent separation? He knows her TOO well so he takes his chances now and again. Gulaal looks down implying she wouldn't be able to take a desperation now and of course the hand-on-the-mouth ☺️ This physical proximity is another factor which I feel the writer's have built up so fantastically!!! That comfort level and yearning had become so high that Gulaal automatically goes to cup his lips.

Anyway, so Kesar continues that little mind game (though not intentionally but he does this quite often to get a reaction out of her and this time he GOT IT!). Oh oh and Ohhh when Gulaal innocently stutters 'J...jaana jaroori hai kya?', I was re-reminded of how awe-struck MP leaves me. Then she looks at him with those puppy-eyed expressions...awww! Even though Kesar in his hearts of hearts knows what Gulaal feels for him but to actually hear it is just another high altogether. That was the 'first' part of her confession...

You can tell how desperately Kesar's eyes are searching for more words from Gulaal so he tells her 'Main kahan jaana chahta hu, tu mujhe bhej rahi hai'. One could sense his anxiety/excitement/nervousness in awaiting those words which he had long given up on.

Gulaal using the term 'manmaani' was typical of them. She always used to complain of Kesar's stubborn nature but we all know that it was her whom had the upper hand over him.

There is a slight apprehension when Kesar says 'Puchta hu toh seedha jawaab kaha deti hai...Dekh na abhi bhi ghoom phira ke baat kar rahi it'. How true is that? The onion she is, Gulaal never was straight-forward to understand, so Kesar plays on that to push her to confess what she wants to say EXACTLY. His eyes await curiously as if saying 'Is she really in love with ME? She wants to be with ME??' . Kesar knows the answer to these questions but he still fears them.

I swear Gulaal had the most endearing expressions here. It's like she couldn't hold in the love any longer because there was too much she has been keeping inside her. I can't describe how beautifully MP did that little tilt to the right before coming out with 'Mat jaa na Kesar'. If you listen carefully she mumbles the 'M' before she comes out with the full sentence. On the other side, Kesar's shoulders relax slightly (well that's what I thought initially but it was actually his heavy breathing). This was it. The moment he yearned for so much but never expected for it to come...

Then comes the best line...'Tere bina jeene ki aadat nahin rahi Kesar'. It wasn't a conventional 'Main tujhse pyar karti hu' or 'Main tere bina nahin jee sakti', it was much more beautiful and meaningful. This is what it has come down to for Gulaal...! That one dialogue included every emotion in her heart...she loves him a lot, she can't live without him and she feels incomplete without him.

'Chen dil ko aaye na' couldn't have come at a more perfect moment, it made the scene even more overwhelming. What to say about Kesar's expression? It's all that I had imagined and more. Hats off to NB!!👏 Like I said, though Kesar knows Gulaal more than she knows herself but to hear her confess something he had never imagined in his wildest dreams was all spelt out in his face.

Can I give a special mention to the scene where Gulaal enters her old room? It was absolutely BRILLIANT! At first she holds on to that pillar reminiscing her times with Vasant but GOD DAMMIT...Kesar barged in here too. Interestingly, she has her eyes OPEN when thinking about Vasant but as soon as she closes her eyes, she sees Kesar. It was as if she was consciously trying to think of the former when her heart really wanted the latter. Did anyone else draw parallels between Gulaal's reaction and Kesar's restlessness before the wedding day with Talli? The thought of not seeing Gulaal's face again made him almost breathless and today Gulaal was feeling equally uneasy because she couldn't fathom this was happening with her. It was so significant and I just want to thank the creatives for putting this scene in because it totally gave away the extent to which Kesar had come to affect her. She is standing in Vasant's room but thinking about KESAR!!

The scene between MB and Gulaal was much needed because their bond has most probably been second best to GK so to see Gulaal falling at his feet as if she felt ashamed of thinking of Kesar even while standing in Vasant's room was poignant and heartbreaking. More so because MB was the first one to be wary of this relationship which had been formed between a young woman and child...! It wouldn't be wrong to say that MotaBha predicted this before anyone else! He knew of this special bond between Kesar and Gulaal hence seeing it being bound by the deeyarvatu must have set alarm bells ringing from the word GO!

I wanted to write more but I'm being constantly stalked by family members but just want to thank the entire cast and crew for giving such an epic love story!! Just like MP and NB are proud to have been associated with this show, I'm sure we all are just as proud to have watched it!! Thanks to both the actors and Ali of course for making 'Kesar and Gulaal' the most beautiful, purest and unique bond that we have witnessed on Indian Television.

P.S. DB's title song is absolutely gorgeous and it does look like a good show but I am done with desi dramas so it's back to re-runs of FRIENDS for me 😛

** reserving my space to BRB phankaaa- lubly post🤗 **

*edit*

As I said before - lovely post Reemz - I ended up drawing a lot of parallels in the ME from old episodes - as I mentioned in my post - but I certainly missed the one you pointed out between Kesar's night time before his wedding day with Talli - and Gullu's in her old room... How equivalent those predicaments are for both of them, and hence how aptly overlapping their their state of mind! Kesar had needed the final knock from MB and his sikka - Gullu too needed one from MB, and then from Vasant... I totally missed it but Gulaal was a female version of Kesar from the early time... including the fact that pictures speak back to both of them! How did I miss! Excellent eye to you there 👏

You're right about the 'm' before the 'mat jaa naa Kesar' ... and then she actually mumbles it a 3rd time onto his chest, before her 4th sentence is about telling him to not let her go... btw - tell me, was that dialog - nahin jaane dunga... - from a movie?! I just can't put my finger on it but I so feel like I know it from somewhere! Nonetheless - it was unique to GK's scene... because it applies to them more than any couple I know... this is the love confession cum the wedding vows happening all in one scene - the simple underlying promise being to never let go! ❤️

BTW - I forgot to mention this in my post, but I love how Kesar's eyes travel down to Gulaal's hand cupping his mouth, just like her eyes had, last time - except, unlike her, he doesn't get flustered. The beauty of how this confession unfolds is - IMO - that Kesar begins to tell the signs of what's coming... in fact, when he looks at her expectantly, before saying main kahan jana chahta hu bit, he's really closing in - but I suppose, knowing Gulaal, he expects her to pull off something like family and what not as reason for him to not go ... you know how it is fir her? He always has to explicitly ask the 'aur tu' question to confirm that the words are actually hers, and not just the family or his dead brother or Talli or who not! The tears too are telling him a story, but he's seen them yesterday - I suppose the shock of registering her words - exclusively from her, exclusively for him - hits him like that so he just lets her fall against him without returning the hug - because he's known this 'love' part... but his resignation for a while now, has been in 'she's never going to let go of her hold back and accept' !!! When he plays mind games with her - which are really just raw candor on his part, never mincing words, unlike her ghuma fira kar baat karna, lol - its because he knows what he's saying AND he knows what she's feeling!

Oh I need to stop I'll go all over the place writing another book again! Sigh, that scene was so complete - so much content to such a closure! I miss the show so bad... :(((

ps: I haven't seen Nur or Lennie at all since yesterday... I thought maybe Lennie was too upset about the show getting over, and taking a day or so off ... but Nur being MIA is more unlikely, cause she'd be the first to come and rant or appreciate ... I have a hunch she will liked the finale... but well, haven't seen her, and awaiting the CAPS and her finale creations too! 🤔

Hey! I didn't really expect them to show more after the reunion but come to think about it, I wouldn't have minded a longer scene either but what we were shown seemed perfect too.

Thank you for the sweet words! Honestly, I didn't realize how long this post got 🤣 Must be my longest yet! Thank you again!

^^ Comments updated Reemz ... I think I'm going to sit my usual hour plus of online time just watching old episodes...

BTW - I noticed another interesting link to a recent old episode. Remember when Gulaal rushes out to Kesar and tells him not to get involved with Vasant's murder case - main darti hu - and all that? Kesar told her he would not let anything happen to him - because he has her to take care of... and the fact that he lets the accident happen after he's officially broken the last link of that 'taking care of her' part... and again, he tells her nothing can happen to him, 'teri dua haina mere saath humesha' - which still holds true - he is in all her prayers - so nothing really happens to him

He he - I know how trivial am I getting?! But I just happened to notice when I was re-watching that scene earlier...

Hey Reemz
Firstly its been nice hving discussions with you and seeing your posts over the past 5 months we've had i think, and what we have witnessed with this show, and as we know i dont think we will see such a love story/life story like this again, and wonderful starcast - and as you know biggest shoutout to Manasi for being just the wonderful actress she is and making Gulaal what Gulaal is - the soul of the show
Did it need an ME for this union, maybe not they could of fitted all in on friday, but then again Gulaal always does give us an ME, so we expected that, it was nice to the see the end celebration - i still cant use to Kesar/Neil with the dhol, however much i see him (for me Vasant/Rahil does it way better) - and boy he is too much of a josh-wala dancer, he needs to keep in rhythm and be smooth, then too fast at times, and it was lovely to see Vasant/Rahil again and that too in yellow, wasnt it yellow he was wearing when he first met Gulaal and played the dhols
I have adored watching the pre-leap KG scenes (mention to Ali Haji 👏), and then the intense KG after the leap
As that one liner by Gulaal, i am glad it wasnt a ILU or something - coz the simplicity and every emotion in that one line she says holds everything, and says everything...
Finally words... Mohe Rang De Gulaal 😳
PS - Even i like the DABH title song - judging by the video the show does look appealing,,,,,,

Lennie there you are! 🤗

Btw - your final words were just like Neil introducing Mansi in the finale interview vid of them, lol!

And again - I agree about Neil's over josh for Garba, 😆 Its like he keeps even the dancing in sync with his crazy and hyper character! ☺️ Ali and Neil together have given a real life status to the character of Kesar. He truly exists for me... somewhere out there! No keeping Mansi's credit - I randomly found a clip of her show India Calling one of these days, and boy, has she come a long way in her acting! 👏

Hope to see them both in projects again and soon!
