Mayur: Proposed not only once but Twice

Nupur Bhushan in her final year of law school was standing in front of the mirror getting ready for her friends end you of college party, downstairs in the garden. She was wearing a knee length sky blue color dress, with light make up on. He hair were tied in loose bun, few layers of her hair were in front of her eyes. She wore long dangling earrings. She looked amazing; she wore her brand new sky blue heels, and walked out of the room. She walked into the party. Her heart was racing; today she was finally going to propose him, her crush for the past 4 years. Her heart always skipped a beat at the mention of his name. She loved everything about him; I mean what was there not to love. He has been the best athlete in college, a total hunk and a hottie. He is the most popular guy in College, every girl was after him, but Nups was lucky to be his friend. While Nups was walking lost in her thoughts about her crush she bumped into Mayank her best friend. They have been friends from the day college had started. They know all about each other every secret.

Mayank: "Oh I am sorry I didn't see you". Mayank huffed, he looked up and realized it was Nupur.

Nups: "it's fine". Nups said smiling. She looked at him he looked different, more handsom e than usual.

Mayank: "Oh it's you!". Mayank said in mocking tone, the reason behind his mock was to hide the fact that his heart was pounding in his chest, like it always does when he was around Nupur. He looked from head to toe and realized she looked awesome, breath-taking beautiful.

Nups: "what you staring at?". Nups asked snapping her finger in front of Mayank's face. Mayank came out of his thoughts.

Mayank: "Hmm just looking how wonderful you look today, you know it' s not every day that you look gorgeous". Mayank teased.

Nups: "Thank you for the twisted Complement". Nups smiled, and Mayank's heart skipped a beat. Her smile was as gorgeous as her.

Mayank: " Your welcome". Mayank bowed, nups shook her head at mayank's sweet gesture.

Nups: "You look quiet handsome as well".

Mayank: "wow I should mark this day on calendar, Nupur Bhushan complemented me". Mayank smiled.

Nups: "shutup Mayank you and your humor". Mayank watched as nups look around the party nervously searching for someone.

Mayank (thinking): "Come on Mayank tell her today you won't get another chance, college is done, Come on Mayank just do it".

Mayank: "Nupur". Nups looked at him.

Nups: "yah".

Mayank: "I want to say something to you".

Nups: "Okay what". Mayank took a deep breath and bent down on his knees, some people around them looked at them. Nups felt awkward, confused at what mayank was doing, she looked around and noticed that many people were watching them.

Nups: "mayank what are you...". Mayank took Nups hands.

Mayank: "sh sh, Nups you don't know how long I have waited to tell you, (he took another deep breath) I love you Nupur, I have loved you for the past 3 years, I never got the courage to tell you, but today I realized that we will start walking on the our on paths, but I want to walk every step with you. I really love you Nupur, will you become my girlfriend". Nups was shocked, a slight smile formed on her mouth, at Mayank's sweet proposal. Everyone around them started clapping, mayank looked around and smiled. He looked up at Nupur waiting for answer, Only then mayank noticed that Nups looked tense and she was trying to get her hand out of his group.

Mayank: "Are you okay Nupur did I say something wrong?". Nups was quiet and Mayank knew that something was wrong. Mayank got up from his knees and stood up.

Nups: "Listen Mayank I have only thought of you as my friend, we have been best friends for 4 years, and I have never considered you anything more than that''''..I Mayank hmm". Nups was having trouble saying anything more, she didn't want to hurt Mayank's feelings.

Mayank: "relax Nups it's totally fine, You don't love me, I guess it was my mistake to ask you in public, I should have considered that you might say no. I am sorry, I promise I won't bring this thing up again". Mayank said speaking at faster pace than normal. Though his face showed no content of pain, he was deeply heart. He walked out of the party, before Nupur could say anything.

~Nups was standing in the garden , straight across from her crush, she thought this day would be perfect for her, but she broke her best friends heart today. She wanted to go after him, but she didn't want to hurt him more. While Nups were in her deep thoughts , Dia walked up to her.

Dia: "Why are you standing here all alone, you should be hanging out with you crush Raj Malhotra". Dia's voice got Nups out of her thoughts.

Nups: "I know but not everything turns out the way you want it too". Nups spoke in a light voice.

Dia: "What do you mean, You haven't proposed to him yet! (nups shook her head in a No) Why? this is your big chance".

Nups: "Mayank Proposed me".

Dia: "what?"

Nups: "he told me that he has loved me for the past 3 years, I broke his heart, but now I can't seem to go up to Raj, I feel guilty". Nups confessed.

Dia: "Well do you really think that Raj is the one for you?".

Nups: "of course I do, I have liked him since past 2 and half years, and he likes me too".

Dia: "Liking someone is pretty different than Loving someone (nups looked at Dia) and if you are truly sure that Raj is the one than go, since you already dumped Mayank".

Nups: "I guess I should".

~Nups gives a quick hug to Dia and walks up to Raj.

Raj: "Hi Nupsie, you look wonderfully amazing in this dress". Raj said giving a hug to Nupur.

Nups: "Hmm Raj I wanted to talk to you".

Raj: "Go on Sweet heart". Nups took a deep breath.

Nups: "I love you". Nups spoke in a hurry.

Raj: "what?".

Nups: "I said that I love you". Nups moved forward to hug him, but he stopped her.

Raj: "what are you saying Nupur you know that I have a girlfriend right?". Nups looked at him confused, and heart broken.

Nups: "What?".

Raj: "yah Isha and I have been dating for the past month, I am sorry Nups". Nups turned her back to raj and walked away, without listening another word form Raj.

~ It had been a week since her friend's party, and her heart being broken. She felt humiliated, embarrassed, and rejected. In this week she hadn't contacted any of her friends not even Mayank, she couldn't bear talking to him, after what she had done to him. He did try calling her few times, but she always hanged. Now she was taking a walk down the beach, she needs rest from all the pain, and loneliness.

She sat down on the bench on the grass near the quiet place listening to sound of waves, and looking at the wonderful view.

Dia: 'OMG where the hell have you been Nupur I have tried to call you so many times, I even came to your house many times, what happened at the party with Raj I didn't see you after that". Dia spoke in one breath, as she was running; she sat beside Nupur, and saw that a tear had rolled down her eyes. Dia put her hand on Nups.

Dia: '"what's wrong Nupur?".

Nups: "Nothing it seems that my life is just a joke".

Dia: "what do you mean, what did Raj say?".

Nups (took a deep sigh): "he did exactly the same thing I did to Mayank, He rejected me".

Dia: "what? Why?".

Nups: "He already has a girlfriend, you know it serves me right, I dumped Mayank my best friend for Raj without even realizing that his answer could be No as well, and that's what Raj did dump me".

Dia: "Oh poor baby". Dia gave nups a side hug.

Dia: "But why didn't you pick up our calls, Mayank has been so worried about you, why haven't you picked up his phone calls".

Nups: "How can I even talk to him, I have broken his heart".

Dia: "Nupur do you really think that you were in love with Raj".

Nups: "what do you mean?".

Dia: "I mean come Raj could have been a mere attraction for you, he is or was the most popular guy in college".

Nups: "So you are saying that I was just attracted to him". Nups said stammering, as more tears rolled down her eyes, her cheeks were all red and warm.

Dia: "Yah, I mean sometimes we do take a mere attraction as love and love as a mere friendship".

Nups: "You are pointing at Mayank".

Dia: "Well yah kind of I mean love is when we spend our precious momnets with someone who know us better than anyone, Someone we share every moments of our life with".

Nups: "You are right, I might have been in love with Mayank, but I guess it's too late to find out".

Dia: "No its not, all you have to do is call him".

Nups: "What? NO it wouldn't be right, I mean I rejected him and now I should all him and tell him that hi I want to be your GF because guess what the guy I rejected you for rejected me, He would feel like a second choice, I can't hurt him like this".

Mayank: "What if I say that I don't mind being the second choice?". Both nups and dia looked back and saw mayank was standing right behind them smiling his usual smile, just looking at Mayank's face Nups felt all better as if her pain has just gone away by the sight of him.

Nups: "Mayank you here?". Mayank walked up to Nups and took her hands in his.

Mayank: "I will always be wherever you need me to be, Nupur I just want one chance to be your boyfriend just one chance, and I don't mind at all being your second choice".

Nups: "Mayank I can't believe that you will still accept me, after I broke you heart".

Mayank: "I will Nupur in fact I do, and I can't prove it you". Mayank was slowly bending down on her knees, when nups stopped him.

Nups: "Wait, ( Mayank straightened up, while Nups bent down on her knees) Mr. Mayank Sharma would you give me a chance to become your Girlfriend and let the love blossom in between us two". Nups completed in one breath, Mayank took nups hand.

Mayank: "Yes I definitely will give you that chance". Nups stood up and hugged Mayank.

Mayank: "I love you Nupur". Nups separated from him and looked into his eyes. Mayank smiled at Nups face.

Mayank: "relax I am not expecting you to say I Love you, Nups we might have took our relationship to a new level, but we still will remain the same understanding we have".

Nups: "Thanks Mayank". Nups smiled.

Dia: "Okay okay please stop with the emotional deep thoughts it annoys me, especially when I am really hungry". Both mayank and nupur laughed.

Mayank: "Okay then let's go for lunch".

Dia: "You too can go together, I have a family lunch to attend, bye guys and have fun". Dia gave hug to nups and walked away leaving mayank and nupur all alone.

Mayank: "So I guess, let's go on our first official date".

Nups: "Oh it better be good Sharma, as it will your first impression as a boyfriend". Nups mocked.

Mayank: "Hey you can't judge me from that, I didn't have time to make everything perfect".

Nups: "Okay then why don't we call this just a friend date, giving you time to prepare for an actual date".

Mayank: "As you wish madam". Both mayank and nups started walking around the beach, Mayank slowly tangled his finger with Nupur's. For the first time Nupur didn't feel awkward but complete.

No matter what true love will always find a way.

Also if a person truly does love you, they will come back even after you have hurt them.

I can't tell why I love you?

~Rati was sitting on her bed, in her room, twisting her engagement ring on her finger, thinking deep. She looked on her night stand and saw photo of her and Arjun that was taken during their engagement. Her mom had made her put the picture on her night stand, she didn't resist much either. She then picked up her phone, stared at Arjun's number, while she thought about what happened last night.

Flashback

Rati was wearing a gorgeous yellow, green dress; light makeup and her hair were down. She looked completely stunning, as usual. She entered the party. Arjun had organized the party, for the success of his latest show he had been working on, he had invited Rati as well, since they were soon to become life partners, though no one knew that yet, since their engagement was just witnessed by their family members. As Rati entered the party, she saw that all of her friends from MJHT were present as well as the cast of Arjun's latest show. She saw that Arjun was standing, with his co-star, they were in a deep conversation, they both were smiling. Rati could tell that the girl was totally flirting with Arjun. Just then Arjun turned and saw Rati staring at them, he waved her to come over.

Arjun: "hi Rati, how are you?". Arjun asked in his cheerful tone.

Rati: "fine, nice party". She said smiling.

Arjun: "Thanks, hey meet Sneha, my co-star for the show, and Sneha this is Rati".

Sneha: "of course I know her, you guys worked together in the most popular show MJHT, your Jodi was the best, I loved every scene of yours". Sneha gushed.

Rati: "thanks". Rati said as her cheeks became light pink, as memories Mayank Nupur scenes came in her mind.

Sneha: "So Rati, I was just asking Arjun, when is he about to get married I mean he is 29 years old don't you think its time about that he gets married". Sneha asked, making Rati come out of her thoughts. She looked at Arjun, obviously he hadn't told anyone that he was engaged, she looked down to his hand, and he wasn't wearing his engagement ring either. She felt hurt.

Sneha: "Hello, Rati!". Sneha snapped in front of rati's eyes.

Rati: "hmm sorry, were you saying something?".

Sneha: "yah don't you think Arjun should get married now?".

Rati: "I believe that only he has the right to decide". Rati says in rude manner, which doesn't go unnoticed by Arjun.

Arjun: "Rati are you okay?". Arjun asked, as he saw that rati looked quite upset.

Rati: "no I am fine, excuse me". Rati says quickly and walks away, she hears Arjun calling after her but she was angry, why she didn't know.

Rati was walking towards her car, when she heard two girls were having a conversation about Arjun.

1^st girl: "OMG really, well it's believable, Arjun and Sneha are such good friends they make such a good reel life couple, that they can also be real life partners".

2^nd girl: "I think they are, Arjun and Sneha hang around each other so much, in fact whenever they don't have to give a shot, they're always seen with each other, and they should definitely get married, that's what most of the cast of the shows says".

1^st girls: "That's good, Sneha does like Arjun a lot, I think she might propose him soon too".

2^nd girl: "That will be a scene to watch". Rati's felt angry, hearing all of this, Arjun was flirting with his co-star while being engaged to her, was simply not acceptable, at all.

Rati came home, she went straight her room, and thought about everything from her engagement with Arjun, till today's party, Arjun called her a few times, but she was too angry to pick up his calls.

Flashback ends

Rati kept twisting the ring, she had been doing this all night, after having deep thoughts, and she finally dialed Arjun's number. He picked after the first ring, like he was waiting for her call, which he was. Arjun knew Rati very well, since he had worked with her for two years. Rati easily lost her temper, but when she is mad at someone she wouldn't talk to them, but then after a day or two she will definitely call them to tell them the problem and talk it out.

Arjun: "OMG Rati I have been trying to reach you since last night, why didn't you pick up your phone last night, why did you leave the party?". Arjun asked in one breath.

Rati: "Arjun, I want to meet you today, in fact right now, I need to talk to you". Rati said in a serious voice.

Arjun: "Now?, Fine I will come where".

Rati: "Sand way Restaurant, I will meet you there at 11: 00, bye!".

Arjun: "Bye". Arjun looked at his phone and realized Rati had already hanged up.

~It was 11: 15 when Rati walked in the restaurant and Arjun was already waiting there. He took the table that was outside on the deck furthest away from crowd in a corner. Rati walked over to him and sat down Arjun looked up and smile.

Arjun: "Hi". He said in cheerful.

Rati: "hi sorry I am late". Rati said in a dull voice.

Arjun: "That's fine, so What's up? You sounded tense on the phone". Rati took a deep breath, said everything in one go.

Rati: "Arjun, I want you to break the engagement". Arjun gulped the sip of water he was talking and looked Rati.

Arjun: "Rati, what are you saying is there any problem? I mean there was then you should have told me before, (he paused waiting for Rati to answer, but when she didn't, he continued) Do you love someone Rati?" Rati instantly looked up, of course she loved someone, not just any someone, someone who was sitting in front of him. She had loved Arjun since they were working on MJHT, but she never had the guts to tell him, she was afraid, because Arjun was big flirt he would never take their relationship seriously.

Rati: "NO". Rati said shaking her head.

Arjun: "then what's the problem? Is it because it was arranged by our parents, were you forced Rati for the engagement (Rati shook her head), Then what's the problem?" Arjun asked curiously, his heart was beating furiously inside his chest; he was this close to getting Rati, his love since MJHT. Rati never gave him a chance, to confess his love, whenever he came close, Rati shoved him away, she didn't have enough trust in him, he supposed. After MJHT ended, they lost contact and Arjun gave up on her, but didn't stop loving her. Then he got lucky, because his parents chose Rati to be their daughter-in-law, somehow his parents and someone in Rati's relationship came up with proposal, both of our parents agreed, so did we, because after all we are both 29 years old it's time we get married. Before the engagement I asked Rati if she was happy, she said that she wanted arrange marriage and it was better because she knew me from before, that's why we got engaged.

Rati: "Because I think you should be with Sneha, she likes you". Rati said quickly.

Arjun: "What Nonsense rati?" Arjun said in louder voice, as he became angry.

Rati: "what Arjun, I am just telling you, what I heard and saw, you seem to like Sneha, most of your co-stars think you guys have great chemistry". Rati said in rude manner, now Arjun was totally losing his temper, he had loved this girl for the past two years and she was being arrogant.

Arjun: "You have lost it completely Rati, what is wrong with you, I don't like Sneha, we are just co-stars who work together". Arjun snapped.

Rati: "Oh really, that is why you haven't told anyone that you have been engaged to me, At the party Sneha was totally flirting with you if she knew we were engaged she wouldn't have been doing that, but I gues you seemed to like it, and that is maybe why you weren't wearing your engagement ring, so your could keep up with you single status and be the flirt you are". Rati said as anger took over her she didn't even realize what she was saying.

Arjun: "Rati, What ijs wrong with, you? You were the one who told me not publicize our relationship, because you didn't like everyone knowing about your personal life, what is wrong with you?"

Rati: "It didn't mean that you couldn't tell the girls who were flirting with you, this is why, you should break the engagement, because we will always argue, Arjun this relationship won't work we will never understand each other". Arjun heaved a sigh.

Arjun: "Rati please stop being negative about everything, this is one reason I couldn't tell you I loved you, because you always thought we will never, this is why I still, I can't tell you why love you". Arjun said in a upset tone, he covered his eyes with his hand. Rati was totally lost of words, Arjun loved her, then why didn't he tell her, oh wait he did try a couple of times, but she thought he was flirt and didn't take him seriously.

Rati: "What did you say?" Arjun opened his eyes and looked staright at Rati.

Arjun: "I love you Rati, I have ever since we had worked together, I tried telling you that Rati, but you always pushed me away, I know why because you were afraid that our relationship wouldn't work, because your thinking was completely different then my, but Rati you tell is it really important to have your life partner be exactly like you, and believe in everything you believe in, is that what makes a good life partner to you? (he paused and Rati was giving him no expression, she was just looking at taking in what he was saying) Rati I believe that to be a good life partner, you just need to have a good understanding, trust, you don't need to have same views on everything, you just need to accept the other's point of view and still keep your own, and most of all you need love, I love you Rati, but I won't fore you into anything, you can think about this, and tomorrow if you want to break the engagement I won't question you". Arjun got up from chair and left without saying another word. Rati watched him go as his words kept repeating in her mind.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~Rati was standing outside Arjun's studio where he was shooting today. She had thought throughout the whole night about everything Arjun had said to her last and she finally came to a decision. She entered the studio all of the people from Arjun's show were there, laughing, rehearsing for their scenes. Everyone looked up as Rati entered; Arjun was standing with Sneha rehearsing a scene. Rati walked up to him, Arjun's back was to her.

Rati: "Arjun". Arjun turned around and was shocked to see Rati there.

Arjun: "Rati you here, what's up?"

Rati: "I thought about what you said, and I have made a decision". Arjun's heart skipped a beat, he was afraid to hear her answer, he was afraid that she was going to reject him in front of everyone. He took a deep breath waiting for her rejection.

Rati: "Arjun, I love you, you were right relationships don't work on compatibility, but on love and trust, what I said to you might have been because I was jealous". Arjun was shocked to hear that Rati loved him, he never thought she will accept, him especially after what happened yesterday.

Arjun: "What?". As if not believing Rati.

Rati: "I love you Arjun". Arjun smiled his usual wide smile that always took rati's breath away.

2 weeks later!

~tring, tring, Rati opened her eyes to her cell phone ringing, she looked up at the number it was Arjun.

Arjun: "good morning sweetheart".

Rati: "Good morning". Rati said in a sleepy voice.

Arjun: "Come downstairs, I am waiting for you". Rati gets up instantly.

Rati: "what?, what are you doing at my house?".

Arjun: "I am your fianc I have the right to be here, hurry up I have to show you something".

Rati: "fine". Rati quicklys fix her hair, and runs downstairs. Arjun was waiting for her all dressed up, he was holding a flower bouquet.

Arjun: "you look beautiful". Arjun says handing a flower, a small magazine, giving Rati a kiss on the forehead which makes her blush.

Rati: "whats this for?". Rati asks holding a magazine.

Arjun: "look at pg 12". Rati opens the magazine and looks at the article at page twelve which had a photo of her and Arjun.

Rati: "Our most handsome bachelor, Arjun Bijlani is not single anymore, he has finally found his love Rati Pandey, they have also been engaged, as Arjun confessed himself, There is no doubt that fans who enjoyed them as a reel life couple will be excited to know that they have became a real life couple. We wish them all the luck for their relationship". Rtai smiles as she reads the article.

Rati: "Wow you did ask me if you could do this". Rati said trying to fake being angry.

Arjun: "I didn't have to, I believed it was right thing to do".

Rati: "You should have asked me".

Arjun: "noop I believed what I did was right, you might disagree with me, but you will still accept it, its part being in a relationship, you accept my crazy ideas, while I tolerate you short-temper". He says jockingly and hold her close to him by her waist.

Arjun: "Now no one will come between us". Rati looks into Arjun's eyes, they hold unconditional love for her.

Rati: "I love you Arjun".

Arjun: "I love you too!". They both hug, they were finally together forever.

If you love someone tell them, because you might be surprised that they have the same feelings for you, and if not at least you won't regret not telling them.
