Today I was shocked to hear anandi say that she could not allow herself to think of Jagya BECAUSE OF ALL THE AASHAA THAT THE FAMILY HAS SURROUNDING HER AMBITIONS AND SHE CANNOT DISAPPOINT THEM.

I am really really shocked. The family has no aashaa at all from her. They are just doing all that they are doing to keep her occupied and to make her happy. They feel that they have a responsibility to make her happy.

There is no question of disappointing them. They would not be disappointed if she sat at home and made chai all day too.

They have no aashaa from suguna and never have had any. They have no aashaa from jagya too.

Why not just say that I will not think of Jagya because I want my goal to have my undivided attention?

I am sad that Anandi decided to focus because of the family and is still not thinking of herself! When will the day come when she will think ki mujhe apne liye kuch karna hai! Mujhe apne pairon par khade hona hai!

Does it mean she has still not moved on? She is doing all this for family? For Bapusa's faith?

she changed her career path right!

her father wanted her to be a doctor she said NO. who did she listen to her family? or herself.

She wants a focal point and she is hoping to not sway away from her ambition. And if she thinks that her family has high hopes ( which they do) and wishes to not sway from it , making her think about jagya..

then why not.

Stop jumping on her throat.

i think bhairon said it once...he want anandi to become a example to everyone!!

lots of expectations from her to move on from this trauma also!!

many times sumitra and gehena also talked about it...that anandi will do big things in her life!!

and everytime anandi said she is determined to do it!!

those r not the expectations from family!!!

One of Anandi's biggest flaws is that she cannot think of doing anything about her own self. May be it was social conditioning, maybe it is in her personality but women with a history of continuous repression do show signs of extreme neglect of the self. These people, especially women, believe that they don't deserve anything for their own self, they have no right to do anything that can solely be for themselves and themselves only.

For Anandi too it is not okay to prioritize her own self, in fact people like her feel guilty to do anything for their own self. It is a very corrosive characteristic and at times it becomes so bad as to people with such a complex will feel guilty to even buy a new dress for herself or eat something good. This is the opposite extreme of selfishness, this is selflessness to the point of masochism.

So I guess, Anandi needs to convince herself that her decisions are not for herself but for the sake of the others. Only this justification can prompt Anandi to do anything, else she is one who will not do a single thing for her own self. I am happy as long as the end result of her actions is good for her, no matter what justification she uses to reach there.

Yes Anandi, please study since the society needs you. Please stop thinking about Jagya since the family trusts you. And please be happy since the village wants to draw inspiration from you. If this reasoning prompts you to study, to move out of depression and build your career let it be.

yes tinoo, i have seen it in my own mother to a certain extent. She always makes sure that she eats the worst piece of fish so that the family gets the better ones. She feels guilty to buy anything for herself unless we push her to. She does not splurge on herself, I have never seen her pampering herself and she will also ignore her own health unless we push her to see a doc. She is all about making sacrifices. But ask her to do anything for someone else, she will be the first one to step in.

It's not so serious as Anandi's but the basic characteristic is the same. I get so frustrated at times :((

u r hitting all the right notes today,see women lyk Anandi do exist ho have been groomed since childhood to live for herself, they cook dinner and serve every1 but will eat the last. Will make sure every1 is ready for a party but will herself just brush up her clothes and be ready. To them happiness is when others r happy, there is nothin wrong in it but what is sad is that these woman at some point forget who they really are. They loose their identity and doesnt even realize that.

Anandi belongs to that group, I dont mind she is wrong when she says that she has to do best coz of every1's trust, heck i personally luv to make my family proud of things i do and am lucky enough to have them trust me beyond this world but that doesnt mean I dont carve success for myself it is the the biggest personal high , hence I ish that Anandi soon realizes it but what worried me more was that she wants to move away from Jagya for others not for herself now that is wrong. It should be solely her choice and wish to erase him , tough it is but she has to do it for herself, coz if cvs by ny chance redeem Jaggu( i will hate that) and bring him back to her , she might forive him forthe family sake, which is totally unacceptable.

That is y she needs to 1st continue her studies, spend sometym away from that village, go to a college, observe girls and boys leading their lyf , a change of environment even for few hours a day should do her good

This also explains why she is not getting a move on with her education... but instead starting an abhiyan to educate the whole village. Once more guilt at doing something selfish.
