Suhana's corner: A rocking birthday surprise for Ishaan!
Hello friends, I have been so busy this week that I did not have time to breathe also. I have been running around to organize a grand birthday bash for my darling husband Ishaan. I want to give him a zabardast party.
This is his first birthday with me, so I want to make it extra special and totally unforgettable.
I discussed Ishaan's birthday celebrations with Ilesh bhaiya and Disha didi. Though Ilesh bhaiya insisted on throwing a party at a luxurious hotel, I didn't want to do that because firstly, I can't afford it and then Ishaan would have to bear the expense. Secondly, I wanted the celebration to be done amongst Ishaan's loving family at home. The joy of celebrating a birthday or any other important event in life in your own abode is priceless. Sure, the gorgeous hotels and their banquet halls might give you a superb feel with everything catering to your needs but I feel the joy of preparing a meal, baking the cake and doing up the house dcor yourself is a touch which is unmatchable. Before marriage, I used to love having my birthday parties at hotels but ever since I became part of the Kashyap family, I understood the joys celebrating such special occasions at home with family.
To make Ishaan's birthday memorable, I gathered the whole family to wish Ishaan at the stroke of midnight. It was a wonderful surprise for Ishaan, who was all smiles. I decided to capture these moments on video and I started with the midnight birthday greetings. Later, I caught him on camera smiling in his sleep. When he woke up, he was surprised and I told him that I want to capture the good times and never lose them or him. I teased him mercilessly when he came out of the bathroom in his favourite towel. He was mighty embarrassed about being filmed and kept running around. OMG, one would think he was a girl for being so shy. But he didn't want to become a joke in the family and hence asked me not to show this video to everyone in the evening. Ishaan is too cute when he is flustered but soon he forgot all about his shyness and became very romantic.
When you think of celebrating your birthday, perhaps it is the early childhood memories that you think of first. I think as a kid we are enthusiastic about a huge birthday party with hats, decorations, cake and food. Later, when we grow up, we focus on celebrating it with friends rather than family. I think friends are equally important but many people leave family behind, taking them for granted. Also, I feel, surprising your loved one with a birthday party is the coolest thing ever. Make it a memorable event for him/her with a gathering of people they would want, food and cake of their choice and of course lovely gifts. These small touches make for a memory of a lifetime. Most people don't need expensive gifts to be bowled over but thoughtful gestures. So even if it is ordering their favourite cake or decorating their room or sending a bouquet to their workplace - I am sure your loved one will cherish such gestures for a lifetime. I too am striving to make Ishaan's birthday a special one with these small things. I hope he enjoys all of it.
The next step on my agenda was to get everyone in the house to record a message for Ishaan. While Radha Bua and ma had to be coaxed a lot, Disha didi and Rajni didi were not too keen. In fact, Rajni didi has been angry and irritated for some reason and I feel she is a bit upset with me too. I don't understand why though. I know Disha didi is a bit worried about her reports and when Ilesh bhaiya came home late, I even told him that nothing is more important in life than his wife. I got a saree for Disha didi to wear but when I dragged her to the cake, Disha didi got angry and shouted at me! I did not understand what did I do wrong. I hope we clear the air and go back to being happy.
