Good Morning , My Hot Cup cakes !!
So for two days , The fires have been raging regarding Pratigya's action's..her lack of it ..etc ,,, etc...
When i first saw the scene..I was quite surprised that for a supposedly much in love wife, she was displaying a marked lack of love and was acting like a perfect stone sculpture ...and when Krishna breaks down and falls down on his feet..Madame turns , sees that his ego, confidence is finally broken...it restores her faith , she sees what she wanted to see and she immediately runs back to him...This then was my first impression ..A impression I might have carried had it not been for the WU ..While writing the WU...and I fell into thinking why was I restricting Pratigya to Krishna's wife and Shyamu's Daughter ...When I could accept Krishna's mistakes and reason it out as him being a Son and hence the consequent misguided action's...Why then should I restrict Pratigya...with this thought in mind..I began to think...
Can Pratigya's conduct , her lies [ to get Krishna down] , her walking away from him and her turnaround be forgiven or understood ...Yes !! If one were to think of her as an individual and a wife and not as a wife alone... Any individual is entitled to self respect, dignity ..and when this is perceived to be mocked or not given adequate consideration..It is natural for the said individual to bristle in anger , which is what Pratigya did when she thought Krishna was belittling the dignity of the relationship and her by making a public spectacle of her, their relationship...It never entered her mind [ for she is not so geared] that Krishna might consider public wooing the " in " thing whilst she expected some thing else ...Blame it on lack of communication between this couples and their avoidance of conflicts by walking away which they have developed and made it into a fine art...So this differently wired couple went about building their relationship in different way...Krishna successfully began to alienate Pratigya even more...and the final straw was the water tank episode...
Krishna climbs up, threatens to commit suicide if Pratigya refuses to come with him...Pratigya is forced to come to the assigned spot and her priority is to prevent a loss of life ..swallowing her anger, she lies to get him down ...but her anger has been stoked by the irreverent remarks made by the spectators and even more by Krishna's juvenile antics esp when she was expecting some maturity and mature thinking from him prolly like re-building the Dhaba or beginning to work..A victorious Krishna comes down and is promptly taken to task by Pratigya ..not by Pratigya Singh nor Pratigya Saxena but by Pratigya ..Pratigya's dignity, her respect have been slighted and the person responsible is Krishna...it is quite natural for her to tear into him and she rips into him ...and walks away from the man who caused her embarrassment ...
But Krishna is not done yet...he finally tells her what she wanted to know all along that he NEEDS her [ not want, but need ] ...He breaks down unable to bear his love turning its back and walking away from him..and here Pratigya who had been having a war of her own, a conflict between her individuality and her love, torn between her sense of worth and Love , she takes a final glimpse at Krishna only to see him on his knees , breaking down in open ..Immediately swiftly Love asserts for love can never bear its recipient beaten .. Wife takes over and she rushes to be with her husband, to lift him up for she cant see her husband fallen & defeated bec she too loves him !! ...This for me explains the Pratigya paradox of lecture and hug ... cos here we witnessed two Pratigya ..one a strong woman and another a loving wife ..and both this entities were housed in one body !!..
As regards whether this is the re-union...It is not for me ..the issues that separated them is still there , unresolved , unaddressed ...ready to rip them apart again.. meanwhile a bridge has been built ..to narrow the gulf...will either of them or both of them cross it and reach a better understanding will have to be seen ...
