The Fate of True Love
"Give it your best shot now!" the coordinator shouted.
I took a deep breath as air gushed down my throat.
My vocal cords filled with energy as I began to sing the melodious tune.
My eyes closed in deep concentration as flashbacks of sweet memories flooded my mind.
His face, his smile, his style…
My voice rose higher with harmony as people listened with admiration.
His dancing, his talking, his singing…
My lungs yearned for another breath as my voice rose to the climax of the song.
His love, his promises… his deceit…
My eyelids burst open quickly breaking the cruel flashbacks, as my breaths came in short gasps.
Water burned my eyes and I fought against the pressure of their will to break out.
I looked up slowly.. only to greet his face again…
My heart cried out the words "Why?" while my brain urged to rebuke him.
He continued to glare at me with ferocious eyes and a smug smile.
Sneering at my ability, he retorted the word "pathetic," at me.
I thrust my hand sternly in front of his face glaring back at him, and heatedly stomped out of the room.
Much to my despair and defeat, one tear strolled down my cheek slowly.
Closing my eyes, my head throbbed in anger, as my heart cried out desperately, "Why couldn't you be who I thought you were?"
As if in response, he turned around watching her walk away…
And wiped a tear that managed to fall from his livid, yet anguished eyes.
"Why couldn't you be who I thought you were?" he whispered softly.
